Re: WDE 26 Feb 10 Jean's Granddaughter WIP

This is a WIP. My husband says I've made the nose too short. I think the nose isn't off by that much, but I made her face too long by putting too much space between her nose and her mouth, which makes her face look oval rather than heart-shaped and also makes her look older Bother! I don't think I got a good likeness, Jean, but I tried. The skin tones are uniformly too pale and not very interesting, so I want to do something about that. They also need to be blended better. Any C/C welcome. This took more like 4 hours than 2.

Re: WDE 26 Feb 10 Jean's Granddaughter

I lengthened the nose, blended the skin tones, added a suggestion of her clothing, and, most of all, got a semi-decent photo that doesn't totally wash out the skin tones. I think I'm going to leave this one the way it is. C/C welcome.

Jean, you really caught Claire's likeness. I think it would be so much harder to do a portrait digitally than it is with oils.

I always hate upgrading my operating system because the programmers *always* think they can help me by messing with things that were perfectly fine IMHO.

Jean & Sue,nice & charming portlait you've done! And I love these digi of mginsberg and Kate's wonderful pattern also.

I've done from last WDE "fluits-Grapes" with the calligraphic ink & chopstick. After drawing lines,I putted on it some colors. It's my favorite style.Size is almost 11×14inch.Paper is the one for Japanese brush-calligraphic which is pasted on the scetching pad.

Re: WDE Catch-up work March 2010

Great work here!
This is one of my own WDE, months back in 2009.
It's acrylics on canvas, 20x20". Not a great likeness, but that's no problem.
I call it "puppy love"

Re: WDE Catch-up work March 2010

Hi,
Connie.. I really like the looseness and palette you used. The girls expression really does say puppy love. Very nice

Toshiko.. I love your work.. I am new to WDE, but when I see your postings I know I am in for a treat.

Jean and mginsberg.. Your digis are nice. Its a new medium for me. I like what you and others are doing with it.

Sue.. Your rework of Jean's Granddaughter is very nicely done. I love the deepness of soul in her eyes.

March 2010 WDE hosted by justjean of Ontario,

I reworked the rendition of Duchess. I wanted to add highlight to the antique look, but the more I started to play with the painting the more it went to realism. So.. I guess this is the finished piece.
C & C are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

What I started out with

What I ended up with:

Re: WDE Catch-up work March 2010

Wow, there's some great paintings here, digi and otherwise. Great going!

This fish just nagged at me. I wanted to do it last week but didn't have time... and then as I decided to do Inktense, I realized nothing else was anywhere near as bright. I'm using it to illustrate my review of Derwent Inktense. Sorry about the scan, I had to tweak it quite a lot to get it to come close to true, the painting is very bright.
