Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

Lin, I used every colored pencil I have trying to cover the rust colored paper. It was way more work than I wanted to do.

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

kas, you may have had a hard time covering that rusty MT, but it sure lends a lot of bolder color to the picture. Realy do like it and your crop as well. Quite up close and personal.

Well, I'm back with the clover blossom by Prof. Greibowitz. I think I used Bristol Smooth, it was a scrap and it feels like Bristol!!!!! It is about 4.5 x 6" and used Prismas and a few Derwent Coloursofts on it. Sorry about the corners looking funny, that is where I tape it to my drawing board!! jWill fill them in later!!! C&C always welcome.

Oh, Robert, Thank you for your comments on Rosie!! She was fun to do and I really should be able to get a cat's pose right, I have 6 of them!!! But they do elude me at times when I try to sketch them for fun!! Some days things just don't work right!!!

Sorry it is so big, just can't seem to post smaller pictures!!

Great landscape, Lin, and the dragon was just in it's right place.
Kas, the clover blossom is stunning - great choice of backgroud, and the little man is a hoot. Your bottle has great lights and darks. The birdhouse is just perfect, luv the rusty nails.
Nice reflections and flow of the bottle, Tammy.
I really like the birdhouse, Adria, do you normally work that big? Rosie looks to have found a blue little bird. Your clover leaf has great light in them!
Nive clover blossom, Mumwond, mixing that much sounds like hard work.
Tammy, I like the crop you did for the birdhouse.

I tried Rosie, this is a bit later in the evening...
It's an ATC on watercolor paper, I used Derwent Inktense Pencils and water.

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

Mona, all... What's a little freaky is that just a few hours before seeing this I was picturing in my mind how id draw a fairy, with a green dress ( cause it's my fav colour!), flying with one leg bent up and wondering how I could get a light burst effect behind her - basically just how you've drawn her!! Send shivers up my spine just thinking about it! Almost telepathic! Weird...
Anyway, I love how all the colours blended together with the inktense, I've never tried those pencils :-)

Adria - nice work on the clover.. yer I know what you mean about the pic sizes and I use the mountain image uploader that resizes. I have even resized before posting andf they always come out the same size.. it's a mystery.

Mona - that is totally enchanting!!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!!!

Adria: Nice work on the clover flower!
Mona, very nice, the "Tinkerbell" add a real nice touch!

I had some time decided to try the landscape, what a mistake, oh well. It was fun to do. Done on stonehenge scrap paper I had with polychromos, and coloursoft, blended with turpenoid.

Nice clover, Adria! Love the details and the strong dark background.

Tammy, your landscape came out great. I like the silhouetted figure against the bright light sundrenched vista.

Mona... wow! Rosie looks entranced and came out so beautiful! I love this one! Cats see things we don't...

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

Thank you Kas

That is scary Rachel. I have cats and made a similar digital manipulation on a profile shot I have of one of my girls where I added a fairy.

Thank you Lin

Thanks Tammy. I like your landscape. What is turpenoid and how do you use that (colored pencil virgin here )

I bet you have seen Ari do that, Robert. Thanks!

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

Hello all, I am coming in here very late as our Internet provider has let us down and that with a holiday break it seems I have been away forever. Looking through all the work, there is no way I am able mention everyone by name. There seems to be a thread of fantasy creeping in here this month....great stuff, and why not. The glass is so difficult and I am struggling with that in hopes of making at least the one contribution. The results here so far are certainly quality. I also fancy the clover but doubt I will get the time. Best wishes to you all. Eileen

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

In some cultures cats are worships. For the ancient Egyptians they were deities. I thought Rosie looked bored looking at the pond so decided to take her on a journey to meet the Sphinx in a land where she would be honoured

I jsut added the stuff in myself from a couple of lose sketches in a book.. I wanted to give it a conceptual image rather than a totally representational one.

'Rosie Meets The Sphinx'
A5 W & N Extra Smooth Heavy cartridge pad
FC Polychromos pencils

As usual the scan has taken the yellows out and messed about with some of the values. there is a feint yellow glow and subtle blue and pale violet around the sun and in actuality it seems more vibrant.

Re: Monthly CP Challenge - March 2010

Hello everybody

I am new to CP and I've been lurking for a while in this forum, but I hope to have more participation here soon.
I saw this thread and decided to try the Clover Blossom by ProfessorGreibowitz.

I used some Coloursoft and Polychromos here on a purple Canson Mi-Teintes paper. I did a mess with the whites here, had a hard time trying to make those petals look good. But I enjoyed the process and I'll try more with coloured pencil soon.

Critiques and comments are welcome.

Greetings,

Isaac
