Bread sketch, step by step.

Here're several photographs taken while sketching. Enjoy the progress.

Okay, I bought sliced German bread. Two slices were picked up as a subject.

Re: Bread sketch, step by step.

Paper is Daler-Rowney Ingres paper, dark brown. I briefly drew the outline with a Pentel. Harder OPs like Pentels or Faber-Castells are my favorite for the initial outline drawing.

Just put the base colours. I used Faber-Castell.

Modelling with Senns. I often rub the surface with my fingers.

Re: Bread sketch, step by step.

Details of the crust were depicted. I used a jaune brilliant of Sakura Cray-Pas specialist for brighter tones.

Re: Bread sketch, step by step.

Yusuke, thank you so much for your WIP. I've been always wondering how you get such life like likeness and these two days, I keep wondering if I should smudge or not smudge for op pieces. You have answered my question by this WIP. I'm always amazed at how life like your work is. Thank you again.

Is Ingres paper your favorite paper for OP's?
