Looks like a really nice start.

Often if a dog has gone to doggy heaven there's no option but to go with existing photos but if the dog is still alive, I always take the photos myself or make the owner take lots, especially at the dog's eye level which makes for a much more pleasing portrait. Looking down on the dog is the normal way most people take photos but it doesn't give the best portraits unfortunately.

Yeah I know this photo isn't that great unfortunately.
I'm not sure if the dog is still around, but the person who ordered the
portrait lives to far away for me to go and take my own photos

Awe, he looks like an old fellow- Labs always have such soulful eyes, and I like the way your drawing is capturing that!
