ACEO-cheesy little painting

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: ACEO-cheesy little painting
Year Created:
Medium: Acrylic
Surface: Paper
Dimension: 3.5x2.5
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
so now we know how the holes get in there...?

I thought I'd use this thread to share with you guys my "art card revelation"....
when I was in the big city....I had the pleasure to share my little box full of paintings with some folks....
I had no "sleeves" for them at the time so we spread them out on the clean table after dinner
and viewed them "gallery style" as a group....(there are 30 of them now....)....much fun....

while in the city I got sleeves for them....and had them dressed for their trip to the printer.....
I had them with me at an artist's reception later for the opening of a wildlife show at the state park....
(my egret is hanging out with some other critters there)....(had to share that too..hahaha)
anyway.............as I sat on a viewing bench....
on my left was the sweetest old lady (a local legend)... she paints exquisite watercolors...
and on my right was a 6'3" larger-than-life character wearing hot pink cowboy boots and Yasser Arafat's scarf....
......he creates really cool sculptures from found objects and salvage.....
these wildly different characters had in common....a handful of art cards......

she shuffled hers carefully front to back....pausing to chat....holding them in her lap.....
he was doing the hand to hand shuffle....pausing to chat with a pile in both hands.......
waving them about as he described the eagle he'd seen lately....
they both went through their pile really really fast....as if eager to see the next and the next and the next.....
then they went through again slowly....scrutinizing each one..........then they switched piles.....
and as I watched them I realized that a very large part of this art form is tactile!!
it is actually participatory art.....the viewer controls his own manual slideshow as it were....
holding them..controlling them...closer..farther...what's on the back?...hahaha
and the more the better....like the excitement of a big pile of candy
vs. the single piece you are eating...
I slipped off with the little lady to look at something and clearly heard
from the group that had gathered about my friend and the deck........
"everybody...pass to the left"....
so I guess it's a group participation tactile pleasure too....hmmm....
sounds like the theme of a La_ painting.....hahahaha......
sorry for the long-fingered speech.. ...but silly me didn't get it before....
I can see the possibility for addiction for the collector as well as the artist now.....
here I thought that I was painting tiny pictures....
but find instead that I've been making a party.....
and I wanted to share my new knowledge with you..............................yd

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
you type...I learn....
if you still have any time left after all that reading....

I like cheese and I like little critters so for me the two go together. Love this one. Also enjoyed reading your book - such deep thinking. LOL

Phew, that was a marathon read, at this late hour :-))

Your observations are indeed very interesting. Your painting absolutely delightful.

I read it all! Don't you just like people watching? You don't trade or sell ATC/ACEOs? Is the egret also a "small" painting? Where's your blog or site. I would like to see more of your work. You have a wry sense of humor...keep it.

Re: ACEO-cheesy little painting

Hi Yarddog. Well, I used to love swiss cheese, but now that I know how the holes get there, I'm not sure I'll eat it again. Of course your painting is spot on, except my swiss cheese has always been white.

I really enjoyed your story about your trip to the big city but the best part is that your painting of the egret is on display in the wildlife gallery. We have a moose visitors center in Colorado and I go there too and get to see some beautiful wildlife paintings. Congratulations and keep having fun...........Lenore

Re: ACEO-cheesy little painting

Isn't it a really cool feeling when all the dots connect and the light bulb comes on and you see a whole new side of what you are doing? What a great experience for you! Neat little painting too but I don't feel too passionate for the mouse right now after battling the "fall mice" convergence in the country. They are cute outside but not in your house. Worse in a trap and certainly don't want to find one in a block of cheese. Although I had someone tell me about finding one in a loaf of bread she had just purchased from the grocery store. Anyway.. that's for another place than here. Just know your Egret was a well received there as it was here. Keep them coming!
