X-Post WDE "Ellies"

Cross posted from AMAE forum, Weekend Drawing Event 11-13 December 09:

14.5x10.75 inches matboard, covered partly with gel medium (applied with a credit card), drawn in 5 minutes over existing WDE collage of a man on the edge of a fishing dock with a pole. (That WDE was in July '09)

After drawing the main ellie with black fine tip Sharpie I decided to draw another animal for company. I took 2 hours to paint in watercolor with small amount acrylic, then wiped off entire bg greenish wash. What texture you see is the matboard untouched areas. A bit of colored pencils added and Caran D'Ache watersoluble crayons. Hope you like the purple elephant and his big buddy just moseying along the trail.
C&C welcome

Lots of interesting elements here K - I can see a ghost image of the man in the grid area in the main elephant - am I right? Love the purply pink elephant!

I love the background elephant Kay! The squares on the larger forward one sort of throw me though, but it looks much fine when I back away from the screen!

I really like what an assortment of watermedia you have used to create this!

You're right Mary Lou, he was the collage on the original. You've a good eye!
Thanks Linda. The square plaid pattern was the man's shirt. Now that pattern's first life was a tile table in a cat painting, so it has had 3 incarnations.

I love how you used so many different materials in this. Love the incarnations too!! Great job!

I've never used gel medium. Any tips for using it? I want to try something differnt for an exchange I'm doing.

Joan, I just did a wip of Poinsettias using gel medium and watercolors - it's really fun to work with. Lots of possibilities, I plan to experiment more using it.
