Scavenger Hunt #155 Nov 21-Nov 29
If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347
Here are the rules for the hunt:
- All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.
- Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
- You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participated. The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
If you have some hunt sketches completed, but little time to comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary.
Here is the list for #155: - bird
- apple
- family
- dessert
- orange
- yellow
- red
- sport
- kitchen appliance
- dirty dishes
- clean dishes
- living room
- bathroom
- television
- seasonal
- thankful
- shopping
- game
- floral
- hand
- stranger
- friend (human or otherwise)
- travel
- dinner
- tired
- laundry
Challenge 1: Do one as a contour drawing.
Challenge 2: Do one as a continuous line drawing (do not pick up your pen or pencil).
Now have fun.

My hunt was totally slow so hope yours goes better. I think everyone must be getting in the holiday mood. Either that or burned out.
If anyone wants to see my dogs and birds, there are videos on my blog and Facebook.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #155 Nov 21-Nov 29
I did a few sketches with Prismacolors, colored pencil and a sharpie. Number 1, living room, or at least one corner.
Number 2, red, a little Radio Flyer, it is about 16 inches long. Number 3, orange, a football player in his burnt orange. Hard to get with the orangy red and a yellow sharpie. Ha. They showed the center a couple of times straight on and of course after I started, they never showed that view again in the game yesterday. Sigh..... So I'm pretty sure that is not a good stance, should the ball be on the ground?? Ah well. May not qualify as "from life" but the game was definitely moving on TV.
kevone, great still life. Good choice of items, nice label.
Joan, very good on the caboose. My dad always called me the caboose as the youngest child .. could do a self portrait. Ha. The train station is good, too.
Hi Jacqui and Jeanne!

Kevone: Lovely still life. Cute little bird and nice shine on that apple.
Joan: Beautiful red train paintings.
Jo: Love the detail in the living room. Nice red flyer. I think drawing moving images on TV counts as drawing from life!

Re: Scavenger Hunt #155 Nov 21-Nov 29
Jacqui - Thank you. The World Wide Sketchcrawl ( www.sketchcrawl.com) is a day that is picked and people literally from all over the world go out and sketch. Then they all post their paintings on the Sketchcrawl site. They do it about every 2-3 months. This was the 25th one that has been held. It started out with a group in San Francisco, but has really grown. Check out the site and join. They will notify you when the next one is taking place. Some cities have big groups that sketch together and post together, and some places there is only one sketcher. It is a lot of fun.
Jo - Thanks. Good job on the corner of the living room. Nice red wagon and football player. I drove around yesterday looking for a game so I could sketch, but I had no luck.
Ai - Thanks. Wonderful sketch of your family! Nice of the stranger to "drop" onto your sketchpad. Super sketches...love the palace.
Laurel - Thank you. Great sketches of clean and dirty dishes. Super blender and laundry basket.
3 - dirty dishes - ink
4 - living room - ink
5 - apple - ink & inktense pencils
6 - orange
7 - yellow lemon

Re: Scavenger Hunt #155 Nov 21-Nov 29
I have a few minutes before we go off to our annual heart check-ups and to a birthday dinner for daughter, Jennie, who has a birthday tomorrow. She has been celebrating since Friday. Ha.
Ai, your sketches are so great. I love seeing where and how you live. A peek at the world. Nice watercolors, too.
Laurel, your sketches are lovely. Nice lines and shading.
Joan, Good job on the fruit, mini still life. Your living room is nice and neat. Good lines. I just washed dishes, should have sketched first. Too many!!
