Scavenger Hunt #154 Nov 13 - Nov 21

If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Here are the rules for the hunt:

*All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.

*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.

*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.

Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participated. The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.

***If you have some hunt sketches completed, but little time to comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary.

Here is the list for #154:

sleeve
fold
slippery
wooden
nail
electricity
hinge
overflow
distant
disaster
level
welcoming
brief
stars
bumpy
celebration
edgy
hollow
floral
plastic
several buttons
medical
stitches
socks
something in your favorite color
comfy

Challenge 1: socks in many ways...on, off, rolled, folded

Challenge 2: Make a still life of a few items and draw/paint them.

Challenge 3: Draw one item from above it, eye level, and then below it.

Now have fun.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #154 Nov 13 - Nov 21

Hello all, I took the advantage of oriental time to do this first... Most are done in pencil... (got inspired by thinking of DP pencil works), one in watercolor & ink

#1 hollow -- plastic piggy (bear) bank
#2 nails
#3 stitch remover tool

#4 wooden -- quilt stretcher
#5 medical -- Iris's medicine syringe
#6 edgy -- plastic knife
#7 something in my favorite color -- bracelet in turquoise color

Looks like we're off to a slow start here.

Ai - Cute hollow bank. Nice lines on your sewing tool and nails. Lovely color and shading on your bracelet. Gret job on the quilt stretcher.

For some reason I haven't been as "art" active since I got back from France. I'm going to have to push myself a little harder.
1 - nail - pencil
2 - electricity - ink
3 - hinge - ink
4 - plastic bag - pencil

Joan: Thanks. Don't be too hard on yourself. I think you have accomplished so much from the France trip. So this might be your resting time some. Besides, you still sketching strong as usual. !!! ... Nice contour on the bag. Great idea on electricity.

"J", Jeanne, thanks for a challenging list. Pun intended!

Ai, an nice group of early sketches. Nice lines on the pencil ones, I like the piggy bank. Your hoops have nice ellipses. Cool turquoise bracelet with shadows.

Joan, great sketches for not doing art!! Great lines as always.

I got some new Prismacolor pens, so will go try them out.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #154 Nov 13 - Nov 21

Ai a great set of sketches. Very clean lines. Love the hollow bear, so cute. I have one of those stitch rippers, hadn't thought of that, good idea. The wood is really well done, nice ellipses. Love the bracelet.

Joan you are always so productive, I don't know how you manage it all. And here you are with more sketches done already. Hinge and electricity board really nice lines. Nail well done. Love the bag. Great start.

I am having trouble trying to think of things here. Have a done a couple of the easier ones. Will post them later.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #154 Nov 13 - Nov 21

Here are a few sketches.
All done in pen in A5 sketchbook. Each only took 2-4 min's.

really poor sketch of cat curled on a chair for comfy. He looked comfy but moved half way through, well I'll use that as an excuse for the shocking sketch. He took around 6 mins.
Decided to do the hinge from a different angle - outside not in.
Electricity is a double adaptor with plugs in.

Thanks for looking. I'll try and get some more done too. These are fun once you get started.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #154 Nov 13 - Nov 21

Thought I'd join in on another hunt.
Eye- I like the turquoise bracelet. I like the idea of knife for edgy.

Joan - Your plastic bag is great. You have conveyed its transparency well.

Jacquip - You've been busy. It's a cute picture of your cat, not shocking at all.
That's an interesting plug adapter. I've never seen one like it.

Here's my contribution:
Sock challenge. One finished knitted sock, the second sock still a skein of yarn. It will be started when I'm finished posting here.
The colors are more subdued in real life.
Maybe 20 minutes to draw and 25 for painting.
This time I used Noodler's bullet proof black ink in my watercolor Moleskine and watercolor. The ink kept smearing when I erased even after I blow dried it. It's been that kind of day.
