Re: Variations Challenge week 2 - Marion

Marion,

Great to see the two versions in purple/green -- I really like the sky in number 1 and the foreground in #2 --

Also number 3 --- so different -- great color combo

Challenge week 2

Well I managed to do another today. The idea is that it's stormy weather and I was going to try and portray rain falling but the tooth of the paper was too full by then and all the colours streaked!! So I'll have to give that a go another time. This one only took 35 mins so I'm speeding up.

Here are the ones I've done so far (no Photoshop so had to take a pic of them together on the floor) and today's by itself.

PS. The cloud behind the tree leaves was brilliant!!

Re: Challenge week 2

Marion-- thank you for you help, was this photoshop -- I promise I will work on the sizing and uploading this weekend. (its a cold and/or dreary weekend in the Chicago area). The gallery is great, you really surprised me and I appreciate it. so much to learn.

Paula, Susan, Deb and Marion -- thank you for your comments on my group -- this really is fun -- since I am pretty new, I'm trying 'whatever'-- I just keep saying -- oh well, another piece of paper, just do something. I hope to continue in a more realistic mode but the abstract is fun.
Nancy (looking forward to week 3).

Re: Challenge week 2

Ruthie,
I like your storm clouds -- and the reflection. Too bad the rain didn't work the way you wanted, but try, try again. Glad to see you found a work around PS -- I have mine taped on a wall -- starting to look like a quilt.

Re: Challenge Paintings--week 2

It must be hard for a landscape painter to take a completely new viewpoint on colour. Afterall, distant mountains ARE purple/blue and tree foliage is green. I like all of these. The only thing I can't reconcile in my fuddled brain is the pink tyre tracks in the 3rd one. They are also pink (against orange) in the 1st one but that doesn't bother me. Perhaps it is simply that in the first one they have a better form.
Doing mine and looking at others is making me actually think about what I see!

Re: Challenge week 2

Hi Nancy, you're welcome - I think is always a boost when you see them side by side.
Yes it was photoshop elements version 2 - a very old version. I have newer versions but this does most of what I need. I downloaded your pictures and then cut and pasted them into a canvas I created at 930 x 300 pixels 9(this was easier than opening new layers). PM me if you need any help.

You're already doing great, I'm also doing exactly that - grabbing a piece of paper and seeing what comes out of it. It's a great boost to building confidence.

Wow, you've been busy. I love the first one, it really clicks for me. The second one has a calmer feel to it. The third is a little too abstarct for me but the colours are compelling!

Re: Challenge week 2

I'm really enjoying this! Trouble is I'm gonna be pushed to do 3 this week, unless I can do both the other 2 on Monday.
Bchlvr....4 & 5 are the same one! The colours have come out really different in the two photos but the big one is nearer the actual colour. There's no blue in that painting at all, can't remember the colours but the water and sky are mainly one of the unison greys (such lovely greys) Mauve and purple.
