Man With A Brush

Dropped the knife and now learning brushes ..
11 x 14 Oil On Canvas/Alla Prima/Study
Painted from life .. no drawing .. just a rough outline with the brush.

I read my book Essential Brushwork last night and this is the second piece I have done since reading. Very good book .. I never knew how to load a brush properly to get the max out of a stroke .. too cool.

The book is great, isn't it.

The layout is nice, and looks to me a very interesting background.

(second piece? you are quite a busy bee)

Once again...jealous

Wayne,

Very nice, and I am so jealous of you folks that can paint nice painting so quickly. It takes me forever! I am trying a looser still life, but it is hard not to paint too much detail. I have to learn to convey what I see without painting every little thing I see.

Good job!

Morning glory

Great job Wayne.......so how are you liking brushes? I never thought of a right or wrong way to load the brush.........hum......
I am glad I have the book coming........sounds like it's done a lot for you!

It's so cool to see your work, in brushes & a new subject. I've never done a still life, I know it teaches you lots of good things. kinda like Hawthorne's bricks.....

Fidget . yes it is .. thank you.

morning glory .. thank you .. I am going to try layers next so that will slow me down .. right now if I spend more than 3 hours on a piece I usually ruin it.

Cath~ .. yes, the book is wonderful .. very short read but very detailed and to the point .. some wonderful exercises in the book as well .. the man is beyond anywhere with his ability to paint.

Wayne, is it me, or....I sense something sexual, with the way the eggs point out of the picture. Maybe I've been sitting at the computer too long. I'm very impressed that this was done all prima. An ability that I lack. - tay

Those eggs pointing-- hmmmm. I think it's probably the end result of 2000 years of domination by white males. A gender-neutral society would have made those darn things do something else (I'm not sure exactly what, though.)

Just joshin' ya, Tay-- us old folks don't look at plain old eggs and think about sex, you know.

Wayne, I like this piece, and unfortunately you've piqued my interest on this book (I say unfortunately because I just bought a book last week!) I may just have to go order it.
