Re: WDEs Catch-up work: October 2009

Mona, your mountains are so gorgeous. I was tempted by that refreence but too sick to do justice to it. Beautiful.

Ronnier, wow, even without so many dead trees or Spanish moss, your Everglade scene is so beautiful. I love it.

Today I finally inked my scene from WDE October 16th -- Estemmenosuchus, the Crowned Crocodile, in a Permian swamp.

Estemmenosuchus Inked
5" x 7"
Pigma Micron pen on cold press watercolor paper.

I'll post again when I paint it, this isn't the finish, it's a WIP. Photo reference by Eyepaint from the 10-16-09 WDE, the reference was the skull, this is a reconstruction.

Re: WDEs Catch-up work: October 2009

I saw the cat and was trying to get two paintings done for last WDE but haven't finished my sunflower yet.

I did however do the cat using W&N watercolor (90lb paper, 9x13"), it took about an hour.

The cat sketch according to challenge, but I did the head a bit to round...more like my own cats

The sunflower sketch (wc-pencils)

And the sunflower at the two hour mark (W&N watercolors on a Langton 10x14" 140 lb paper). I hope to finish it during the weekend.

WOW, what nice paintings going on here. I did promise EP I would put the one on I did for her challenge of her hosting that I forgot and left at painting class last week so did not get it on in time. Used yellow, blue and red or combination of colors. Took about 45 minutes. Oh, yes it is on yupo about 9 X 12

I painted a small area with the red and then took the pointy end of the brush and went and lifted the paint out to the white. Think this is the lines you are asking about. Yupo is so fun and I love to mess, so it is right up my alley for one like this one.

Okay, I thought maybe you used the bevel end to scratch out lines. I have on regular watercolor paper but not on Yupo. Thanks for the tip!
