How should I frame this one? Need advice

I've never really done any framing before, but want to give it a go with a recent painting which I have made. The painting is A4 size, acrylic on primed card (about 1.5mm thick):

Any ideas? Should I put a coloured boarder (what colour)? What type of frame? Behind glass, or varnish? If behind glass, do I have to make sure the painting is not in contact with the glass?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: How should I frame this one? Need advice

Hi Dave,

This could be framed in any of the ways you have suggested.

If you check out my website there are 2 paintings called Wolds in Winter.
One is an unglazed acrylic using a varnish specifically for acrylic and no mount, the other is a glazed watercolour (could also be acrylic) using a mount. If you decide to use a mount it must be glazed. You may also find some ideas for a frame here.

A golden rule in framing is no art should ever touch the glazing if you decide to use glass.
