Can you mix acrylic paint with oil paint?

I'm working on an oil painting and I've run out of white. What will happen if I mix some acrylic white into my oils? I don't want to have to wait a week to get to an art store.

Unless modern chemistry has come up with a paint or medium I don't know about, the short answer is no.

Sorry, but it's a 'no'. You can paint 'fat over lean but not lean over fat'. Mixing the two mediums will not work. Additionally if you paint acrylic over any oil, the acrylic will not adhere properly and could very well peel off...

You might want to ask this question in the Oils forum for a more scientific answer.
