Re: Tram7 - playing piano

Just lovely work, spectacular watercolor technique.

For some critical comments, I think Tram 7 is flawless. The Piano painting has a small problem to me with the bars in the window. Of course, they're not drafted perfectly because of your style but I think the width of the lines and the inaccuracy of the drafting is a little bothersome and attracts the eye away from the COI. The trains station seems a little dark but this may be the digital reproduction. I also think the composition is a bit flawed because the painting divides in two sides, left and right.

You're getting beautiful light, and the values are spot on. I think your facility with the medium allows you to fly with your brush! It takes years of brush time to get to this place of enviable immediacy and confident attack.

My one suggestion is opposite to those observations. I think in the first piece, the foreground is a little too slick. The light is glorious, but I find myself wanting more sense of the ground being flat - horizontal hints and possibly more definition in the immediate foreground, even if it is subtle.

The third piece is very nicely composed and the light is stunning! Again, though, I'd wish for a light touch of sharper edges in the foreground. When the lights are so sharp, the man's legs in the front seem almost transparent.

Yes, you can certainly handle the brush!
As usual, Lynn's comments are right on target.
I'll just pick #3 as my fav.
The rendering and colors of all of them are top notch, but the composition in #3 makes it the winner.
