Re: It Goes with the Flow ... Mostly
Thanks Moc. Yea, just north or south of Oliver ... can't remember exactly where I was ... too hot and too smokey in Kelowna so I took off in search of ... tranquility? ... didn't find it but found this little neck of the river. It's beautiful country but ... too busy for me in the Okanagan ... at least in the major cities. Such is life now.

Re: It Goes with the Flow ... Mostly
Ah, okay, so not Layer Cake Mountain. This is Indian Head Mountain. There used to be a really cool natural image of an Indian Chief on his horse on the north side of this mountain, but the last time I was down that way, I could no longer see it - and I even knew where to look
I hear you about Kelowna being so busy. Some peace and tranquility wouldbe nice.
Cheers,
Sue

Re: It Goes with the Flow ... Mostly
I just finally noticed your reply, thanks for identifying it for me Sue ... okay, well, the pic was taken south of the Mountain looking north ... next time I'm in the area I'm going to look for that Indian ...
Here's the view looking west from the sames pot;
And here's what I found at my feet where I stood to take the pics;

Re: It Goes with the Flow ... Mostly
LOL - cactus Nice find, Tony. (and nice Bull Pines, too)
The area around Osoyoos and Oliver has a very diverse ecosystem. Odd to think that here in BC we actually have a small piece of desert, isn't it? Their bird and plant life is quite different from anywhere else in the province and because areas overlap there, the South Okanagan Christmas Bird Counts are always much higher than even a hundred miles north where I live here in Kelowna.
I found this really cool info about BC's wildlife and ecosystems which you may also find interesting ... http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/wld/bio.htm
Cheers,
Sue

Re: It Goes with the Flow ... Mostly
Hey, I googled it and found it's called Indian Head - McIntyre Bluff ( http://www.okaccommodations.com/oliv...dian-head.htm). Thanks for the site Sue ... it is fascinating ... I actually found some cactus on the south tip of Hornby Island which is off Vancouver Island in the Comox Valley ... no pic though and way smaller than the above. I want to explore that Osoyoos/Oliver/Ok Falls area much more.
