Baby Gorilla (double)

I’m starting a double painting of the same baby gorilla in slightly a different pose one in acrylics one in oils both on canvas 16”x12”.

I like both paints but prefer the way oils flow and dry slow.
Painting good things

You busy bee! Haha, I'm watching this. Will be interesting to see how the medium will influence the final painting.

Thanks Both

I started some detailing to both, I'll try to keep them in sink with each other of the updates.

Have a nice day
It's windy here.

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

Thanks all
Here I’ve detail the face and some furring in both. I’ll leave for a day or two now for the oil canvas one to dry. The acrylic one is dry but I want both to progress together.

Good painting to you
Gary

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

Gary I've never really commented on your work before but i'd just like to say that I really like the way you paint,it seems to me a very free and flowing style, the colours are always vibrant and the tonal values excellent.
More power to your elbow pal.

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

Well, I thank you Les, for that very nice compliment. I like painting lose first to see if the idea works before detailing.
I have visited you web site on many occasions and admire your style too.
Paint the colour of that brush

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

Funny to see that you have a very similar style in both mediums. Love how these are coming together. How many paintings are you working on at the same time? Amazing.

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

I would have thought they were both oil! You make the acrylics look just as easy to use (tho they are not, or at least I don't think so!) they both look very free-flowing. Interesting to watch these two together.

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

Coming along nicely Gary, like the idea of the two different poses. Interesting to see the use of the two different mediums.

Re: Baby Gorilla (double)

Erik
Loads, mostly 3 paintings a colour Palette (I hate wasting paint ) that’s what I say to her indoors anyway.
I just love to paint and have five on the go right now and about five nearly but not quite finished waiting for me to get interested in them again. I also have 20-odd ref photos for future painting.
My small studio has over 50 paintings stored away waiting for me to organiser a solo show sometime.

Ceci, Hi, Its the same Gorilla, taken from a documentory on TV, I tweak it in Photoshop.

Amanda..........Acrylic dry quick, oils dry slow. Both can be used in the style I work in. With acrylic you need to keep the paint from drying on the palette and canvas. I wet my palette squeeze just a bit of colour out get the mix ready then I damp the canvas area with a semi wet brush first, now I start detailing and blending.

I see, Tazz.... be nice time ............I'm nice to you on you WIP............Your nice to me on my WIP. Being nice to you, is not nice..........Bad from now.
