pastel painting mounting

I usually mount my wallis paper to foamcore before I paint on it. I have read some recent threads where as the artist did not mount the paper first. If you don't mount the paper on something first, and do your painting, then how do you go back to mount the work once its done. I think it would be a space saver not to mount the paper first but a little unsure how to mount it once its painted. Thanks for the help. James

I don't mount it afterwards - I think that could be kind of tricky and maybe not good for the painting.

I attach my paper to foam core with professional framing tape - it is archival gummed paper hanging tape by Lineco.

Re: pastel painting mounting

Thanks for the reply Kathryn. So do you leave a edge around the paper to used to tape it to the foam core or is it double sided so you tape it to the back of the painting, then to the foam core. thanks James

Re: pastel painting mounting

I've heard of artists mounting paper after the painting is done, but I understand it is a very meticulous process and better done prior to painting.
