This is great Sigrun. Like the deep colors you've got going on here.

Re: Silk silk silk
Thanks Debby, I like this work very much and here is how and why I did this:
When Finn had to to attend a conference in Palermo 2008, Sicily, I wanted to see if there was a connection between the Norsemen and Sicily and found it. The text I found that inspired me to do this work comes from Heimskringla, written in the 12th century in Iceland and tell the tale of Norewegian king Harald Hardrada sailing past Sicily and not stopping (this time). For him not to stop meant there was already his kinsmen settling there and that would have been Roger I or in old Icelandic "Hrošgeir " The name of the work is "Passing Sicily"
Here is a link to the heimskringla (the Round world = Heims= world, Kringla=round.

Re: Silk silk silk
It's fascinating how you find inspiration from the old sagas. I think it's marvelous.

Re: Silk silk silk
Hi again after some time away...
Here is a commissioned piece I just delivered. It is the apples of Idun. Idun (Icelandic way Išunn) was the wife of Bragi the poet and god of poetry. She was a goddess and was most trusted by the gods and goddesses as she kept in the box made of ash the nine apples that the gods could bite into when feeling the age coming over them and that would give them youth. So she is often associated with rejuvenation. So here is Idunn.
Hand dyed silk with batik.

Yummy apples! Great to see you doing silk, and not just rugs.

Re: Silk silk silk
Yummy indeed. Great depth with this one, Sigrun. What is the size? I love the white - gives really good texture.

Re: Silk silk silk
Thank you both I was for a long time debating what to do with the white spots left by the wax, in the end I left is as is Glad you like it this way.
The size is just over a square yard.

Hi Sigrun!
Hope you & Finn are well! Just popped in to answer a 3D question, and figured I'd come peek at what you've been working on lately... gorgeous, as usual I really like how you used the whole corner of the colour wheel in this new piece, Idunn's apples... makes it positively GLOW!!!

I'm so glad to see that you are still playing with your silks. You are so wonderful with this medium. I guess my subscription got lost in one of the upgrades. Happy New Year.

Re: Silk silk silk
Luscious scarves, Sigrun. I love them all, but that blue one - Wow. I'll buy a lottery ticket today; maybe I'll win enough to own one or two of them.

Re: Silk silk silk
I just love your silk scarves. When I was working in an office, wore silk scarves all the time. Now it is jeans and t-shirts and I really don't think that a silk scarf would work.
Still would like to have enough money someday to have one of yours and I could just feel it and look at it.
