Okay...I'm really starting to seriously launch out into illustrating. Tomarrow I'm going to a birthday party for a friend. And this morning I decided to this painting. I don't have much experience with watercolour or illustrating for that matter. But, I sure had fun with this. My friend, Penny and her husband are both cat and SciFi lovers.

I have several motivations for doing this painting:
1- Kind and humerous jester for my friend.
2- There will be quite a few children fantasy and SciFi authors there. Hoping to get a few commisions.
3- Making more people aware of my art.

I used a combination of water colour, ink, pastel and magic marker. Would love to know what you all think. Constructive critism welcome although I don't have that much time to make many corrections. But, I can learn for the next time.

This is a very different idea for painting.
I like the clouds very much, I can't draw them very well.
The house looks good too.

There is something a little odd about the ladies arm. I think that it is a bit too long and it is bending in the wrong place. No knocks here though, drawing to 2 figures together isn't easy, and from what I read this was put together quickly.

The man's face is a bit off- it looks mixed-up between a full front view and a 3/4 view/ The woman's right arm is also a bit off.
Also, man's chest- if the shoulders are like that, the chest should be showing more. If the shoulders are in front of the chest then the arms should also slant a bit.
It's a cool and funny idea though. Seems like the kittehs going into the mother ship to help take over earth! (They already have, actually...)

Hey, a good job, NitaMarie. A nice distinctive style. Keep going! No crits, but you might review your color choice for the man's shirt. The bottom of the picture looks a little muddy...

I agree there are many flaws with the drawing of the couple. This is the picture I was going by. If the shirt looks muddy at the bottom it is because I was going for a dark creepy evening atmosphere with the glow from the moon and spaceship beams. Because it is done in cartoon style...I hope my friends will be forgiving of it not being a complete likeness. It was done quickly and I have learned a lot from doing this as it was my first attempt at this sort of illustrating. Hopefully, my next illustration will be much improved.
