June 2009 Oil Pastel Challenge
Are you ready? I dont think so not quite yet, first I must explain the selection proccess, Gosh and I agonized over several hundred photos, taken in some 40 states, looking at all manner of landscapes, waterfalls, snowscapes, seascapes. Then we started looking at other things, trains, cars, and pictures of kitty cats. Then we remembered our teachers fascination with all things yellow, we decided that perhaps our yellow, senneliers and holbiens dont get enough use, so we decided upon the following. Feel free to modify them in any way, crop, cut, whatever you want, but mostly have fun.
Leonardo, Gosh, RG
This is leonardo describing how he should be drawn, and letting us know he really likes the yellow and white frame for his portrait.
Well, I dont think I've ever seen a car posted in the challenge before, at least in the oil pastel one. So it here it is, but it isnt just any car...
AND last but not least, we werent gonna do this, but Bill insisted for nearly 30 days, and finally we gave in.
So here we go, the June Oil pastel challenge has been brought to you, by my entire family, cat, wife, and myself..

Love the blue flower and will attempt it if I have the time, but I'm giving priority to Leonardo!! Excellent choices.
RG - you have to tell us all about the yellow car - where did you see it, does it belong to someone you know, also exactly what year and make is it (for those of us who aren't into cars but appreciate style and history)??

Re: June 2009 Oil Pastel Challenge
Hi All,
I have had a go at Leonardo, when i saw this i just had to sit down and have a go at him, what a beautiful kitty Rg, he reminds me of my own cat only he is a she and she is the grey-black version of yours. I haven't done animals before but this was fun, i'm a bit sad my camera hasn't picked up the ture thickness of the ops as i piled it on, this was done on oil sketch pad with holbiens anyway he is.
P.S, i found the yellow was really hard to get down any c&cs welcome.
Sandra..

Re: June 2009 Oil Pastel Challenge
The story of the car. That 1934 ford roadster, which by the way is about as original as say my copy of da vinci's drawings... Showed up at lews drive in in milwaulkie,or for one of the classic car drive in things they do here all the time. Details.. The chassis is a 34' ford roadster, engine is a L76, 327 CI produces around 470 HP Eddelbrock heads and manifold, Holly double pumper on top.. I could go on and on.. but trust me that car is as special as it looks..

Re: June 2009 Oil Pastel Challenge
well ain't that just the cutest cat He's gorgeous. I think he is demonstrating the school ? (if that is the word) of art .. Trompe l'oeil. He reminds me of that work where the boy is stepping out of the picture frame.
I did a car for the WDE in CPs the other week and another again last week. Gosh so many cars and kitties.
Now I wonder if Bill is one to accept a challenge or hide fro one?
Come on BIll get out those OPs and show us your blue flower!
