A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: Friendship Dolls

Description:

As requested, now is your opportunity to make and exchange friendship dolls!

To participate:
1. Make 1 to 4 friendship dolls and you will receive that many in return.

2. P.M. me for my address when you are ready to send me your beads/friendship dolls.

3. Send your beads/friendship dolls to me with a self-addressed, stamped, padded envelope or box, or enough money to cover the return postage.

4. Your beads/friendship dolls are due to me by August 31st. This gives us a little over 3 months to get creative!

5. Post your pictures/comments in this thread.

6. Make new or enjoy old friends along the way!

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here!

Re: Project Discussion: Friendship Dolls

Joy, Could you post pictures of your friendship dolls on this thread? Know they can be of any sort, but I love your dolls!

Sounds like fun, but I can't commit just yet. Exchanges aren't working for me these days with my torch 350 miles away.

Okay, I'm dumb. What are friendship dolls? Can anyone show examples? I wouldn't know what to do.

Re: Project Discussion: Friendship Dolls

Thinking Joy's at work, but I'll do my best. Joy makes two piece dolls: head and body and they can be interchangeable. There's a picture on the project page and I'm hoping she will show more.

She is thinking you can make any kind of doll bead, like the Russian dolls or fruity dolls or whatever you can think of to make a cute doll.

She'll do a better job of explaining when she gets the chance. I'm just butting in because we were discussing this while on our trip back east.

Re: Project Discussion: Friendship Dolls

Whoo Hooo! it showed up! I wasn't sure, since I haven't done one of these before.

Thanks, Karen and Rita for joining in!

Thanks, Trish and Maggie for helping out.

There are a couple of links at the bottom of the project page that leads you to more information on friendship dolls. Basically, they were dolls made in the US and sent to Japan.

Yes, mine are two piece beads...separate head and body...that can be interchanged. But, you can make any doll bead of your choice. I'll try to post more pictures...just have to find them all now...we've "cleaned up" my photos and put them all on discs Now I can't find anything! I work tomorrow, so it may be Monday before I can put them up.

Off to look for pictures.

Re: Project Discussion: Friendship Dolls

OK, I made a collage of the friendship doll beads I've posted over on the newbie site. Again, just examples to get you started...

Name: FD collage tn.JPG
Views: 276
Size: 61.3 KB
Again, the heads are separate beads from the body. Most visible on the lower left hand corner...same dark haired doll head on two different bodies.
