Cedar Ridge Preserve

I found a new place to explore not far from my house, a piece of preserved land called Cedar Ridge Preserve. First I painted in the fields there, on a semi-overcast day:

Cedar Ridge Fields
8x10 oil on panel

A few days later I was back exploring a trail through the woods on a sunny day:

Cedar Ridge Woods
11x14 oil on panel

C&C always welcome.

Re: Cedar Ridge Preserve

I really like both as well, though the second is my favorite. I like the use of light in the second image.

Re: Cedar Ridge Preserve

These are really nice. I can smell the sun-warmed cedar of the second one. I really love the second one a lot!

Stunning! Love the warmth of the second one and the dappled light through the trees.

Re: Cedar Ridge Preserve

Thanks, everyone! These are the 1st 2 in a series I'll be doing this summer so it's nice to hear the positive feedback. A local Land Trust has invited a group of plein air artists to paint on some of the properties they've preserved, and we'll have access to some lands not normally open to the general public. At the end of the summer, we'll each donate 1 work to the Land Trust for an auction / fund raiser, and we'll have a group show of our other works. I'm pretty excited about this project and privileged to have been invited to be part of it. And I'm looking forward to exploring some new places!
