Passport & Palette

So, has anyone seen the series yet? I saw the first episode yesterday, the one with Kevin MacPherson. The filming is beautifully done, but I thought the episode would have been better as a full hour rather than a scant 30 minutes. A lot of information was crammed in. I would have preferred a somewhat slower approach to allow time for it it all to sink in.

But perhaps that's why the episodes are available for sale as DVDs.

Looks interesting Michael. I've tried to find a listing for my local PBS stations, but so far no luck. Maybe it's too early yet...not enough coffee.

Re: Passport & Palette

Hm, I just did a quick check, and KET doesn't seem to offer it.

Re: Passport & Palette

Thanks for checking Michael. I live right on the Tennessee line also, and get a couple from there. Although neither offers the show at this time.

It's about like trying to find a good workshop here...

Re: Passport & Palette

Hi Michael - I saw this mentioned on his website and tried to find it down here in Florida to no avail. Did it show close ups of his palette and brushwork while he was painting?

Re: Passport & Palette

WEDU doesn't seem to have it on their list. I guess I am blessed, having what really is an impoverished PBS station (MPBN) offering it!

It did show good closeups.

Re: Passport & Palette

It's not in my area either (Napa Valley). I'll have to save my pennies I guess.

So, how a bout New Mexico. Their web site is not functioning well. Can't tell if it's the site or my computer. I think we have KNME but I'm not sure if we have any other public TV stations.

Re: Passport & Palette

cat1lady, KNME will have it in June:

Passport & Palette
Kevin Macpherson/Landscapes/Saint-Pierre-De-Maille, France #101
Air: Saturday, June 27, 6:30 am on KNME-HD 5.1
Broadcast In: English
Landscape painter Kevin Macpherson takes his inspiration directly from nature, or "en plein air." In the idyllic French countryside, he captures the moment in an impressionistic style. He also demonstrates how virtually any color can be mixed with a limited palette.
Run Time: 00:26:46
Rating: TVG Captions: 708+Captions Format: HD Source: APTEX
Rights Notes: RE-RECORD 1 YEAR
Available Items: DVD'S AND MORE, HTTP://WWW.PASSPORTANDPALETTE.COM/
Visit the Website: http://www.passportandpalette.com/

I'm surprised they're showing it at 6:30 in the morning! And you're right, the website isn't that great. I think the same guy designed it who designed Kevin's other website, www.enpleinairmasters.com. That one slides off to the right of the screen, too.

Re: Passport & Palette

Saw the episode with Kevin Macpherson painting in the snow around Taos yesterday. Nicely done.
