Lightbulb WDE April 24 Images Here !

Welcome to my WDE ! I am posting the images a bit early...my internet has been up and down all day, so I figured I had better post these while I still was sure I had a connection !

I will be posting 16 images and a bit of a challenge.

Please wait until all are uploaded before commenting - thank you

You have 30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials.

For the next two hours, just go for it! Use any medium or style – it’s up to you……then STOP!, scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread with your title, beginning with WDE, plus date, plus title.

Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2 hour mark, and MI for multiple images if other works are to be added before the following Monday.

NB. To avoid forum flooding, please put all of your work over the weekend into a single thread: multiple threads will be merged!

You have the whole week to participate - until the next WDE starts (usually Friday). If you finish a piece after that time, we now run a 'Catch-up' thread in the forum each month where you can post any WDE not completed in its allotted week .... it's a sticky near the top of the forum page.

After posting your contribution, please view others’ entries and comment and encourage. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

Further information, if needed, may be found in the AMAE Hall of Fame.

Updated guidelines for Newbies. and,
Participant Guidelines.

Here we go:

First, some flowers, starting with Clematis.

Lilacs, from the Royal Botanical Gardens Lilac Festival earlier this year.

And, a water lily....

Only one animal photo this time....my precious Busy...I posted a reference of her last time as well. Yes...she always looks this happy

Still life...one of my favourite things to paint...so I hope some of you enjoy it as well.

First, a tea set...

Tomatoes and oil and garlic...yumm....makes me think of summer...

And some simple limes...I don't think there is anything greener than a lime !

A few landscapes:

First, the "charmingly" named "Gut Lake" in Northern Ontario. Icky name, beautiful place.

Re: WDE April 24 Images Here !

Another shot of Gut Lake, from further up the lake..great hiking here. It is in Grundy Lake Provincial Park.

Sunlit path by the beach, at Grundy Lake itself. The soil is full of clay, and the water was clear, but copper coloured. It took some getting used to.

Recollet Falls, on the French River. Voyageurs travelled from Montreal to Lake Huron along the rivers, carrying goods to trade for furs. This particular little waterfall is named after the Recollet Missionaries, who often travelled with the Voyageurs. I was fascinated by the patterns in the water here, and took quite a few pictures. Still haven't painted from them yet, though.

Re: WDE April 24 Images Here !

This is my husband Bruce, at Little Cove, on the Bruce Peninsula, Lake Huron. You can edit him out of your painting, if you like...he doesn't mind

And....a Lake Huron sunset. I posted one for my last WDE as well. This is from a different evening. The sunsets are spectacular.

And finally....some people...for you people painting people !

This is a "scribe" I guess, for lack of a better title. The photo was taken at Ste. Marie among the Hurons, which is a reconstructed Jesuit outpost on the shores of Georgian Bay.

Re: WDE April 24 Images Here !

Here are my great nephew, and great niece...who are so adorable they are practically edible !

First, Dylan...at the ripe old age of one. Please feel free to leave out the remnants of his Christmas dinner that are evident on his collar

And Maggie, with an Easter Bunny. This one may turn out to be tricky...angled head...and OMG...fingers !

If you would like higher resolution copies of any these, or the invitation photo, please send me a Private Message, and I will email them to you.

For the challenge, if you feel like challenging yourself....I am suggesting you work a little differently than you usually do. For instance, if you always draw with line...try going for mass and tonal value. If you work big, try something smaller. Realism? maybe try something less than exact. Always work in monochrome...go for the colour. Of course, you can do whatever you please, as well. It's your work, to do whatever way you please.

Hope you have found something you like !

Have fun !

K

Yippee! You posted early (... dancing around the living room ...)

Your note about Dylan reminds me of a 1.5 yr old at a wedding dinner who was decorating his hair with peas and mashed potatoes ... his father tucked him under his arm, left the table, and the two returned with a very wet (but clean) head on the tyke

Great pics, thanks for hosting! Looks just like home, to me. I see this area was ice-covered during the last ice age, those smooth 'planed down' cliffs are just like the one's we have!

Re: WDE April 24 Images Here !

Nice selection. More flowers maybe I should try those as I hate doign flowers lol.

Nice landscapes. I see a few I like, now just to decide what medium to do them in.

The oild and tomaotes reminds me of a larger work I did in ink and Inktense and that sort of arrangement can make a lovely piece.

I shall finish my coffee while I decide.

So many to choose from
