--> Spring Scratchboard Challenge Contest <--

Welcome to the Spring Scratchboard Challenge Contest and Exchange* (optional)

The contest begins today (April 20) and will be posted on May 31, 2009 (aprox 6 weeks). I must receive all work by that date or it will not be included.

Rules will be:
1) everyone works from one photo (posted below), which you may do on any size of board and crop as desired. You may do it on a black board, a white board, colored or left black and white. Everyone will start with the same photo, but you are free to modify it however you choose.

2) after you are done with your piece you will PM Mary (member name heartland) an image at 800 pixels on the longer side. DO NOT post it to the forum. When you send her your image tell her if you want to be included in the exchange and if you do then also send your mailing address, which she will forward on to me. If you do not want to exchange that is fine, just let us know that too. After she gets all of the images sent to her by May 31, she will send me teh images without the names and I will post them all to one thread with a seperate list of people who submitted to the contest. Your job will be to match up who's piece goes to which artist and then you will PM that list to me too. The person who matches the most correct pieces to the correct artist will win a prize. Lorna has donated one of her lovely prints (can be viewed below)!

After the contest is posted and I know who is in the exchange I will randomly match people up by drawing from a hat. You will be sent the address of the person that you are going to mail your scratchboard piece to. You should also get a piece in the mail. If you have not received a piece within 1 month let me know and I will get on the person that was supposed to send you their work and make sure it was sent.

Wonderful photo! Yes, I will still give the prize...an all expenses paid trip to Burns Lake...

just kidding!

Winner gets a signed print of Moonlight Swim (8X10)...this piece won an Award of Excellence at an exhibition in Dec. and was also in the Indy show. Should I end up winning the challenge (

big joke!) the print will go to the 2nd place winner.

This is going to be hard. When we did the last one, it was already difficult and there are something like twice as many people posting work nowadays.

The benefit is this makes us all really research each others work and that must surely help us all improve. It's a win/win!! And if I win, it's a win/win/win

Cathy. Just a idea but. What about having everyone email them to someone NOT in the contest (iphone Mary) even if she just deletes the info of where it came from.and sends on to you? Then you could play along. (fair) understand? Iphone? Up for it?
