"Passing Rain"

This is my latest creation titled "Passing Rain". It's an 18"x24" soft pastel on prepared gatorfoam (a violet and green acrylic under-painting with a pumice mixture on top). The brands of pastels I used were primarily Terry Ludwig's, Schmincke, Great American's, and Girault's.

The textured surface was not captured very well in the photo...and the lower left foreground is a lot lighter in color then depicted here.

I'm not really asking for any C&C on this because tomorrow is the last day for entry into one of our society's shows.

If you want to see a higher resolution image...go to my blog (link below) and click on the photo.

I hope you all have a wonderful and creative weekend!

David

Re: "Passing Rain"

Hi David,

Wow! I love it! Sounds like you're still using Susan's surface approach. I've got a bunch of 9x12" panels that are sitting waiting to be prepped for plein air outings later this year.

Re: "Passing Rain"

Hi David, I'm sure I was caught in that shower!

I like the new texture and how it lends itself to the subject matter. The rain clouds... the grass!!!

IMHO (and it's only mine),but I feel a little bit of tug into the left as the house slants. I know you may not want to change a thing but I thought I could mention it with you.

Oh and in about 10 minutes I'm enroute to Bellingham to drop of artwork for the NW Pastel Society show - where YOU and I have pieces in!

Hurrah! barb
