Lightbulb WDE 4-10-09 Images are Here!

Spring is here in the Pacific Northwest, and whether you are experiencing spring yourself, live up north where you are pining for it, or live down under where it's the wrong time of year for it, I figure we could all use a little bit of the colors that spring brings!
So here goes! Come visit my neighborhood in South West Washington State, where Spring is in full bloom!
You have 30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials.
For the next two hours, just go for it! Use any medium or style – it’s up to you……then STOP!, scan or photograph your work and post it in a new thread with your title, beginning with WDE, plus date, plus title.
Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2 hour mark, and MI for multiple images if other works are to be added before the following Monday.
It’s fun to all participate at the same time but not always possible! Please join in whenever you can – you have a whole week!
After posting your contribution, please view others’ entries and comment and encourage. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

The links for the Guide for Newbies and the fuller version of Participant Guidelines may be found here.

There are lots of trees that bloom a vibrant pink/lavender and just in time for Easter weekend.

Officer's Row is a beautiful tree lined street of 21 restored turn of the century homes built for the Officer's of the Vancouver Army Barracks. The commander's home is named after General George C. Marshall. Here's a view from the porch.

From the porch of another historic home along Officer's Row I shot these Magnolias.

Another one of our historic landmarks is the Cedar Creek Grist Mill, in Woodland WA. It's still a little early to see signs of spring at the mill, I took this photo last May.

Here's a shot I took of the creek just last week. We have a good snow pack, so the creek is really running!

I've been told this is a star magnolia. They are quite common in my neighborhood.

It just wouldn't be a WDE without the host's pets, so here is Twinkie! At 14 she figures she can sit anywhere she wants- and this proved she doesn't chase mice.

Diesel, I call my pseudo-siamese. His mom is a grey tabbie, but he looked like a perfectly marked siamese as a kitten (before he got so dark). But he doesn't care to have his picture taken. It was dark outside and I have no idea what he was looking at when I snapped this photo last night. Perhaps you might like to draw what he was watching when he was so rudely interrupted!

If you didn't already know, I love daffodils, so I take lots of pictures of daffodils and they are abundant in my area. Here are several shots of different varieties. For all those inclined to do so, please use these as a reference to come up with your own daffodil composition in the media of your choice.

WDE 4-10-09 More Photos

One more challenge.... Since it is easter weekend, I snapped some hard boiled eggs and they look like they could use some color!

Sorry I didn't get done early enough this week to upload hi-res photos to the image library, but if anyone would like them, please email or PM me.

I need to go out of town for work tomorrow, so I won't be around, but I'll stop back to today and Sunday to see what you come up!

Thanks Elaine - those eggs may well be easier to colour than paint as they are!!! Notoriously difficult!

Beautiful area is Washington State!

Elaine - You've got a great selection of photos to pick from. I'll see if I can get something done tonight since I'll be sketchcrawling tomorrow and Sunday I won't be able to do anything until evening since we'll be with relatives for Easter.

Thanks for hosting Elaine. Love all those blooms. I agree with Maureen. Thank goodness we can color those eggs! So hard to paint au natural!

Ack, so many flowers I HATE doing flowers yeesh. Nice landscapes though and pretty cats.

Thanks for posting early enough for us Brits to get our teeth into them. Now the hard part... choosing one!

I'm leaning towards the landscapes.
