Paint Out #11; A Basket of Peppers
MY IMAGE(S):
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Paint Out #11; A Basket of Peppers
Year Created:
Medium: Photograph
Surface: Paper
Dimension: Whatever you want
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!
MY COMMENTS:
We all learn a lot by looking at and critiquing paintings. What if a bunch of us do the same subject? The extra learning comes as we can see the different artistic interpretations of the same subject.
Recalling the wild popularity of the previous fruit reference (the Forum Eats Healthy and Paints that Way!), I thought this photo might prove an interesting challenge. The play of light across the forms is beautiful in my view and note that you can paint selected forms by cropping as you see fit.
So...here's OPEN FORUM PAINT OUT #11. You've got two weeks to paint and post the displayed reference(s). Close date is APRIL 19TH, 2009.
MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Use any medium, any size. Post any time with your explanations.
GET OUT THOSE BRUSHES, AND PENCILS, AND PASTELS, AND SO ON.
Detail hounds (woof, woof) email me for a high res image.

I love these peppers and I've been playing with them. Will post something as soon as I can do so without violating the one post per 24 hours limit.

Oh the dreaded still life, . Well, I'll take your challenge and to make it even more difficult I'll do an ACEO. I really can't deal with that perspective so I found my own basket and filled it with peppers.

I am not into still life either. I've been staring at this photo for the last few days and am still trying to figure out what to do with it. But thanks for the reference, Bob.

Sandra, I hear you on the still life. Maybe I'll just chop it all up and go for some salsa. Love to see your version........Lenore

Alright, this is the best I could do for now without copying the photo and making a realistic reproduction. Loving manga naked characters are one of my current fascination. Pentel Pocket brush pen on Crayola Marker and Watercolor paper 8x10 inch and 2B pencil for shading.

Hah! I just love it when someone comes up with a complete transformation of the subject reference. It will be interesting to see if this opens the libidinous floodgates as with Mackb's cucumber photo.

OK, I wasn't sure I was going to tackle these peppers, but last night around midnight I started to paint, and here are the results...sorry for the glare.
Lenore - kudos for you for the first entry!
Gakinme - very creative! Love that it is a drawing.

Re: Paint Out #11; A Basket of Peppers
Thank you, Bob, Latchu, Varna, Kathleen, mooz, Claire, for your comment.
I now see what you mean, Bob. Your Paint Out #8 has the cucumber and I now see who is Ejtupi, mooz. Ejtupi has very different views of still life too. Neat. For a moment, I was wondering if Ejtupi might have put a cucumber with erotic imagery too...haha...
Claire, you have very whimsical peppers. Love their eye expressions.
Lenore, you have great colors on that basket of peppers. Pepper salsa sounds good.

All I had handy was magic markers.... I've been babysitting my grandsons - they have a new baby brother! So I used what I had..
