Talking It's Gekko Time!

Here's my latest sculpture, done with FIMO and then drybrushed with Acrylics.

I also attach the preliminary studies I sketched.

C&C welcome.

Thanks Paul. Yes, it was also fun to make. And as my partner used to say: You're good at cute things.

Thumbs up

Hi Jester:
Very cool your 'Gekko Time' in deed I really like the color work very vivid. Looks like you had fun creating this piece and you put together some nice idea sketches/images.
Good Work!
Best,
Kathy

Hey! Great gecko Jester! I love lizards too. I used to have an iguana named Floyd-very mellow guy.
I was wondering-do you fimd FIMO to be crumbly at first? I have only used it once and thought maybe I had a bad batch.
He looks great!

Hi Jester,

I love the gekko. We have one that parks itself on a window over our front door every night. There really cute critters & you have captured this very nicely.

Thanks everybody for your kind replies. The funny thing is - I have never seen a life gekko. On TV and photos, yes, but in real life I only know lizards (small ones) and chamaeleons (at the zoo). But I was always fascinated by those little critters.

inkskin - I ususally buy FIMO on eBay (and you never know how old that stuff is that you get there) and it is always ok. But - in contrast to super sculpey - FIMO (the regular one, not the soft one) is always hard and crumbly at first and needs to be warmed and kneaded extensively. I've read that some people even use a foord processor to speed this! I ususally twist and knead the stuff between 20 and 30 minutes before working on it - but then it's fine. It's quite boring and feels like hell when you want to be creative and have to do such tedious preliminary works.
