Pheasant up Close

I watched 2 male pheasants fighting on the road the other day. I read that they can fight to the death. I tried to capture the attitude in the face in this piece. I just wanted to focus on the head, that's why it may look a little crowded. Size is 9.5 x 12.5. Jay

Hi jay, I wouldnt want to mess with this guy!that beak and eye tells it all! great expression. I never knew they were that aggressive. A few years back we had one that hung out by the barn. he/she lol...i dont know which. sat on the fence post most of the day. kind of shy. i never got a picture ....and didnt see him again. I like your birds...they always have good expressions. lynne

I agree with Lynne! The beak and eye really get all the attention. Those colors are gorgeous! You are growing with every single painting Jay! I hope you realize that.

Jay you have really succeeded in capturing that irridescent quality of the feathers.

Cheers, Dianna

They are truly intense and you captured that look. I agree with Dianna that the iridescence is nicely done. Barb
