Yikes. I just looked at all the other pictures. I'll be happy to take my 10th place trophy and go look for a new hobby.....*sniff*....

Great work, all of you too numerous to name.
What! ....a whole post without one crude insinuation ....I'm disappointed EJ ....
I liked all the little fishies in the first version but I like this one equally as much ....
Hurry up and do another quickie EJ so that this thread gets on to the fifth page and my awful post gets lost away back there somewhere .....

Anne - I think we were in the same torture chamber with this one!
You have done a fantastic job. I especially like the your beautifully painted rocks - they look very solid and really show off the water. Good wolrk!

Mooz, what are kfetching about? You did a nice piece. It was great, rocks and water included.

Ej, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE????????????? THE salmon were terrific and a great take on a rather bland waterfall.

Thanks to everyone for the nice response.
I think all efforts are interesting and to be commended, every one has a difference and it's a valuable experience for us all to see the different interpretations produced, after all ,we came in different boxes! (as I always tell my Doc, there were no instructions in my box!!)

Re: Paint Out #9: Mackb strikes again

CB The rocks are excellent and the water has nice movement.
MRSBB nice colors great greens.
MACKB, nice, I like the reds adds interest. Thanks for the pic btw.
Gillette the style of the rocks and the style of the water fit so well together, excellent.
Freeskier, the colors (and light) in the water are fantastic.
Mooz, glad you posted it, I like it a lot. I'm glad I noticed it.
EJ I think I like it better without the salmon. I like this style.

Your challenge photo, has brought out the best in folks, these are all awesome paintings. Each one beautiful in their own right.

Ej you second picture reminds me of Rotorua New Zealand. The hot pools. That misty look where you lifted the salmon out is gorgeous. I loved the original painting, but this one has feeling. It moves me.

I'm still in the torture chamber that Claire mentioned ......I decided to use up some leftover paint ......mainly white ....and do a knife painting of the rapids. After this one and my last disaster I have started to think .....What am I doing in the Marine Forum anyway?....there must be another Forum more suited to my art surely .....
My next painting shall have absolutely nothing to do with water ....

Hi y’all…What an awesome and challenging photo and beautiful interpretations!! Mooz 49, I like the reflections in the front pool. Here’s mine – didn’t think I’d make the deadline – will probably go back and tweak some more when dry. Oil on board, 8 X 10

Re: Paint Out #9: Mackb strikes again

Hi everyone. Still more great paintings.

Jane yours is lovely and you have brought those rocks to life.

Mooz both of yours are really nice, great work with the knife. Isn't knife work fun? With you hanging out in the marine forum, I knew they would be.

Freeskier and Lunchbox. I would have a hard time choosing a favorite among the two of them as they both bring back great memories of Yellowstone. I could sit and daydream at both of these pictures.

EJ. your second one is more to the reference, but i'm partial to the salmon.

Keep having fun..............Lenore

Re: Paint Out #9: Mackb strikes again

I don't know how but I seem to have missed half of page 4.

Nice have some new blood like Gillette, aptly named because this is sharp. What a glorous version this is, nice job Jane. Nice job.

Freeskier, now you know why I said youare a youth prodigy. Beautiful job and I love your loose and quick brushstrokes. Beauty man.

Mooz, I like both versions but I can see you were hesitant in your brushing. I too have been having a hard time with this and I can't even get it past my wife who has sharp eyes and is too honest for my own good. But I so glad you submitted Anne, because you are getting better every day.

Lunchbox, thank you for joining us and with such a wonderful version. Very well done.

Re: Paint Out #9: Mackb strikes again

Spyderbabe, glad you could take the time to submit, it must be hard to watch over all of us and still find time to paint. Nice redition. What is with the cross thing on the left? And is this oil or acrylic?

I really like Lunch box's version too. I can't get the water the way you do man.

And I just proved that it's never too late to screw up a painting. I tried to rework the water and killed it. grrrr.
