Re: long distance art ed

These are not recommendations, just links to further information.

Both of them offer accredited degrees by distance learning.

Academy of Art University, San Francisco (AAU)

Open College of the Arts, UK (OCA)

Re: long distance art ed

I am currently doing a Bachelor of Art (Art) through Open Universities Australia. Some of my co-students (besides being in various places in Australia) have been located in South Africa, the USA and various other countries. One was even up near the Artic Circle (Northern Territories, Canada??). The provider university is Curtin University of Technology which is based in Western Australia. The provider universities involved in Open Universities are all legitimate and well-known, well-established universities.

I just signed up for the Pet Portrait diploma course at London Art College. I had checked into it last year and decided to wait and have now decided to go ahead. They have a new website and I am very impressed with this and the quality of the work coming out of the school and the tutor for the Pet Portrait diploma and her work. It is also very affordable. If you are disciplined enough, distance learning is a great option.

If you are looking for a qualification the Open College of the Arts now offers BA hons degrees in Creative Arts, Photography and Painting. I believe they are also planning to launch an MA programme in 2011.

GingerS, I would say there are some good online classes at AAU ( see above posts for links). One of my fellow students in Brooklyn holds this guy's online Atelier in high regard. His work is nice as well.

Re: long distance art ed

I know this is no degree, but this is being offered for free by Mark Carder and is an excellent way to learn colour and gain good skills.
