A fashion series - Vlada and her friends
Hi, everyone. I decide to open a thread here in order to receive critiques and feedbacks, because I want to learn and continue to improve. To make it clear, critiques are welcome and desired. Thank you !
Since I am still a student in graduate professional school (entirely not art related), I only get to do painting as a hobby after classes. Often I find myself out of time, focus, patience or energy to complete any work. So sadly a lot of works will just be rough "studies" (to call them nicely ) for now.
Nevertheless, I hope this thread will evolve into an on-going series, a journey in which also to learn and improve technical skills. I wanted to paint fashion models, especially Vlada Roslyakova. I'm a hopeless fan.
Best, Morley

Re: A fashion series - Vlada and her friends
These are beautiful! You have a real talent for getting movement! I think the second piece of the two runway models is perfect. You created great movement in their clothes and the models themselves. The color choice is great too. And the way you made the closer model "pop" and the other one blurred just a tad in the back is just genius! I don't know who Vlada is, but the bottom "study" is a very fashion-model type painting. I'd say just adding just a tad of the red from the background to the face (maybe a little on her cheeks and lips) would really make her come alive and finish the piece off. Again, I'm not sure how Vlada stands, but her posture in this one seems very modelistic (is that even a word?) and does a great job at capturing the feel of the shirt she is wearing.

Welcome Morley... I cant see much to pick on here... they look to be good experimental studies using a variety of digital techniques, of which I suppose there must be many. I like choices and application here, especially that first portrait... and the sense of energy and movement in the second...and the... they've all got good points!
I'll look forward to seeing the continuing series

Beautiful work...You could activate the digital painting by not having the subjects so centered. But, that is just me.
