WIA Tuesday 18th November
Hi everyone . Didn't make it back Sunday or yesterday, the connection kept dropping me off, most annoying, I finally gave up on posting or doing e.mail or anything. It was back by last night but I was tired.
Two painters turned up yesterday so we are getting all the raw plaster covered in the basic white. Much quieter sensible boys. The three amigos who like destruction are on a ripping stuff out job. One ventured in quite sheepishly yesterday to get some tools. The tiler was also in to begin things for the kitchen. I am having slate in there and fingers crossed I think it will be nice. There is quite a variation in it, and at first I was a bit dubious about that, but on reflection think it will be lovely once it's grouted ( only part laid at the mo, and only on the adhesive ). Interesting discussion with the tiler about limestone. The experiences I have heard about, I thought it was difficult in terms of staining, he said that's because people don't seal it properly. He said that it usually takes a great deal more than the recommended amount. He likes it better than slate he said, so we had a giggle about that. Must ask him how he feels about elephants !
I hope today is another busy one, although I'm feeling a bit sleepy. DH called me yesterday afternoon right as I was in the middle of something, don't think he was impressed with the obviously distracted "uh, huh"s I was giving him. Mind you that's what I get if I call him at work! He has been very sweet about calling me, but with the time diff it always seems to be right as we are getting the last stuff done before home time.
Just blew the lighting circuit again, grrrr. Same bulb as before, there must be a fault in that light socket. No time to fix it now, will have to put on make up with just the bedside and desk lamps, hmmmmmm. Oh well. Have a good day all. Fiona

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
I love hearing about your renos, Fiona! You'll be an expert by the time this project is finished!! You might want to offer your contracting services to the place you're living now, sounds like they could us a bit of an overhaul! LOL
everyone! Last night was a great class, though I spent WAY too long sitting in a very poor chair, so I'm VERY achy today. Cecili is dropping Freya off here on her way to work this morning. Claire usually takes her to school, but with her car out of commission, we're working around that. Cody is going to walk her to her classroom (as it's up 2 flights of stairs at the FAR side of the school!!). So I guess I better get moving here - I'm sure Freya will want breakfast when she gets here! LOL Back later to check up on you all! Cheers!

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
Hi folks
I've finally got the accounts work for our business finished and taken it to the auditors. We stopped at the woods on the way so Leon could have a walk, he had a great time. He's getting much bolder and more interested in the world around him.
Several more things to get done before I can call it a day so I'll pop back and chat later. I'm feeling a bit more on top of things now so should be even more so once my current list is ticked off.

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
Fiona, I had heard that about limestone, too. The sealing bit, I mean. I think it can be amazingly beautiful, so can slate for that matter. What is up with the crazy flat you are staying in?!!! Power issues, washing machine issues, YIKES!!! I thought it was a relatively new building! Maybe that is the problem. Too funny about your DH calling and expecting conversation during your winding up things for the day.
Barrie, I am glad your class last night went wll, but you and I both ought to know better than to spend over-long in an uncomfortable chair. We both seem to pay for transgressions against our poor aching bodies. My chair at work is a miserable thing that really is causing me some pain. I suppose I could take my nice comfy office chair from home in, since I rarely use it in my bedroom. I was thinking of taking into my torching area, though. Nice that Cody could walk Freya up those darned stairs. I know stairs really make me more achy.
Claire, Yea! For having the accounts work finished. I am glad Leon is getting a bit bolder, so long as he still comes when called.
Andee, No fair for your day to be accompanied by pain. As if the day alone wasn't enough!!!
BBL Off to work momentarily.

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
Hi again, Barrie, I'm glad you had a great class, not so good about the chair though, maybe an 'accident' could befall it somehow before you have to go there again.
Claire, how lovely that Leon got to explore, I bet he was spoilt for choice with so many trees!
Andee, sorry to hear you are so stressed out. We are at the opposite ends of wishing in terms of work time though. I wish the week was longer in many ways so more would get done !
Rita, have a good day at work. Maybe your work chair might also meet with an accident, or elope with Barries chair or otherwise require replacement.
The man tiling the floors has slate done, so we were banished from the new kitchen area while the adhesive dries. Builder, tiler and I were standing admiring his handiwork when I spotted that he had forgotten the all important bucket under the outlet for the condensing bit of the boiler ( no waste to plumb it into yet ). I had told him, but of course he moved it while he was tiling. Builder thought this was very funny, he had put me in charge of the "important bucket" when the thing was first installed and I told him it wasn't easy stopping people moving it or borrowing it, and I don't think he believed me!
I checked if the tiler liked elephants. Turns out he spends several months a year at his house in India and is very fond of ellies and Ganesha the elephant headed deity. He even knew that coconut husks are good for scrubbing real ones down with during their daily bath, and showed me his Buddha tattoo ( IT WAS ON HIS ARM, before any of you start thinking impure thoughts !!! ). Painters continued as well. All in all an interesting day.
Have a good one all that pop in later. I need my daily bath now, although I think I can manage without the coconut husks. Fiona

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
OK, more stuff done, spare room rearranged, dog played with and accordeon scales played. So a few minutes free to catch up.
Rita, Leon can't go to France until 6 months after his blood test to check the rabies shots worked. The test is on 17th December, so that makes it the middle of June. He's not bad in the car but gets bored quickly and chews things or wants to ride on my lap. Glad you're enjoying the glass. Hope work is busy enough to make the time pass.
Fiona, you seem to have found a soul mate in the tiler (showing you his tattoos already eh?). I'm glad you are taking your responsibilities as bucket monitor so seriously. It's always strange when something new gets fitted, it draws your eye a lot at first so can look disproportionately large or dark, takes a while before you can see it as part of the whole.
Andee, no biting now, it's naughty. Hope you get a good night's sleep and that the headache goes.
Barrie, we have laws about comfy chairs here - can you believe it? Apparently the chair I have at work (which seems fine to me) is illegal and I have to have a new one which I can adjust in several different ways to fit me perfectly. Like I'm ever going to do that. Maybe I should send you my old one!

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
LOL Illegal chair?!?! That's too funny!! I do think Rita's chair and my chair need to take a LONG vacation somewhere wet and dark - I'm thinking bottom of ocean though that's not entirely eco friendly. Wait, they could then become an interesting dive site, like the old ships they strip out and sink on purpose - artificial reef! That's the word I was looking for! LOL
Fiona, showing you his tattoos huh? He'll be wanting to see yours soon - what's that? You don't have one?!? Well, you could get an ellie tattoo and surprise your dh next time he sees you! LOL That would certainly liven up the collection!
Andee, poor you! No biting, only because you never know where we've been! You should get one of those punching bags! Then you could vent anytime you needed to. I hammer texture things when I'm frustrated - very therapeutic!
Rita, you really want to be comfy when you torch. When I first started, I always REALLY felt it between the shoulder blades!! Your beads are progressing nicely, btw!!
Well, managed to putter a bit in the studio, then had to go pick up Freya. We find out tonight if Claire's car gets fixed or scrapped. Her parents are making sure she has something safe, either way. Whew!! I'll head back to the studio after Freya leaves. She was ravenous when she got here after school so we had some chicken strips - filled her up, fed Cody before work, now we're just waiting for Cecili to pick her up and take her home. It's nice to have my little kidlet around for a bit extra - I do miss her most of the time. Hope you all have a great evening!! Cheers!

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
Fiona, How funny about the “important bucket” and its journeying around the kitchen. Hope it made its way back to the right spot in time for whatever purpose it serves. I love the idea of Barrie's and my horrid chairs going on vacation or just going . . . together. So long as they don't breed more horribly uncomfortable chairs it will be fine. I think Barrie's idea of the artificial reef is a good one. Nice ot looks at a man's tattoos, even if they are in polite parts.
Barrie, Glad you are getting a bit of extra time with Freya. Also glad Claire's folks will make sure she ends up with a safe vehicle. I miss playing with Cassie. She has been at home a lot with the darned cold we have all had. She finally went back to school today. Athena will be traveling to Idaho with her dad and other grandma for a funeral on Thursday. I feel like it is such a grown up thing to do. I just hope she will hold up okay with grieving family. Thanks for the tips on the poked dots. Hopefully I can make something decent looking. I ordered some more glass and some Japanese “annealing” bubbles tonight. I know they don't anneal, but the slow the cooling time better than a fiber blanket so I am hoping for some more successful beads.
Claire, I knew Leon not being able to go had something to do with his age or shots or something. Thanks for clearing that one up. Too bad, he would undoubtedly enjoy the getaway. My friends bought a “rescue” dog and congratulated themselves on how much they saved not buying a papered dog, and how smart they were. Then they stopped at the grocery on their way home. Were in the store about 20 minutes, and came out to him having devoured most of the seat belts in the car which cost them nearly $600 to have replaced. Great savings on the dog, huh!! I am sure your old chair would be the one I have, and undoubtedly the one Barrie was using hands down!!! The one I was using today was horrid. My rear still hurts, as does my back and neck. How can one chair wreak such havoc.
Andee, No need to apologize, just don't bite me. I am delicious according to every flea and mosquito who ever tried, it might become addictive.
I think I may be too tired to torch tonight. I hate feeling like this. Every time I spend a day like Saturday it takes me the next week to recover. I am sure a doctor could help if I could afford to go to one, and if I found one who would look beyond the surface for the actual cause of the exhaustion and pain. Oh well, keeping on, keeping on is what I do. Night all!!!

Re: WIA Tuesday 18th November
Rita, we used the annealing bubbles at the bead show and apparently they worked just great. We had a couple of artists get quite creative with their sculpting and nothing broke - worth giving it a shot, huh?!
