Pic of Photo Setup

here is a picture of the simple setup that i use to take pictures with. i'll probably come up with something a little nicer for the top lamp (other than just laying it on top of the container!), but for now it's working okay. as soon as i take the picture i turn that lamp off, and the plastic doesn't get hot- just warm. i have two G.E. 'reveal' bulbs in these lamps.

the paper looks pink, but it's really a light gray canson drawing paper that cost about $2/sheet at an art supply store. as you can see, i've basically just laid the paper in there- nothing fancy (hey, that would cut into my bead making time )

i use a sony mavica fd90 camera...

thanks to ingrid for the basic idea!

here's a picture of a transparent bead too... i was having a hard time getting a good pic of transparent beads with this arrangement until i moved the side lamp around to the front of the box (i.e., shining right in on the bead). i think it turned out pretty good this way...

(an experimental 'tree' bead- with a turquoise band from copper- which i am adding to everything now, whether it makes sense or not! )

I LOVE your beads!

My photo setup is almost the same set-up. We probably have the same brand of plastic box.

A nice simple set-up, I like it! I'm gonna have to get one of those plastic boxes and some good lights. The window light just isn't cutting it!

Wow - that really works great - wonderful picture. I really need to get mine set up. Thanks to Ingrid for the original idea, and to both of you for the pics!

well, mona, the plastic box was a hard one... i wandered the aisles of wal-mart in a daze over the vast selection of plastic....

did you settle on the $5.99 one with a latching lid?

A simple piece of software called "IrfanView" will allow you to resize almost any picture format (gif-jpg-bmp) and allow copy and paste parts of a image also to crop a image, and best of all its FREE...

http://www.irfanview.com/

And it does a lot of other things like color balance and panoramic pictures...

Panoramic picture (of $60 photo studio) was created in Irfanview

I had a bunch of wine boxes and took one and made a hole in the top for the light and on the inside I placed a white matting foam board around all sides the light can stay on all day.It works ok for me but sometimes its too bright and the pictures come out funky........ I got the Idea from my friend mari Johnson, she I think uses a tupperware container. Stacylynne

hi jill,

here's a link to my favorite photo tweeking software... it is so simple to use (i've used adobe photo shop and a couple of others, and nothing compares to 'professor franklins' for ease of use and effectiveness), and you can *easily* resize your pictures with this program.

it costs $29.99 and is worth every penny in my opinion. i especially love the picture edge effects...

if i have to seriously adjust the tone, i do use a more complicated software program, but i rarely have to-- especially with this lighting setup...

if you already have a program but aren't sure how to use it to resize your pics, pm me and i'll be glad to try and help!

I like that you got this beautiful picture with such a simple set up. I was getting discouraged with my pictures. this is something I can do without spending all kids of money. That's Great! And the bead is beautiful! I love that green.

Thanks for sharing your set ups. This is really interesting for me. From time to time, I do sculpture. I'm rubbish at photographing it and it always looks horrible. I'm thinking, if I try something like this, it will really help.

Please keep all those wonderful photo booth ideas and photographs of them coming.

I need all the help I can get in my attempt to build a successful photo booth.

Any comments about lighting and digicam setups will also be very much appreciated

Tereska and I have just bought a Canon PowerShot G2 digital camera.

Hang in there ... I am working on a "mini foto" studio piece right now... Will be uploading and attempting to "publish" it in the next week or so...
