new "glowing trees in the series" - WIP
I've been working on more glowing trees for my series. This is where i'm at with this one.
I've decided to cut down on the variety of color, and probably keep all trunks except for the bright orange (the star of the show) in the vecinity of purple blues and violet blues. That means the yellow tree is about to change hue, as well as the pink ones.
IRL the blues are darker than this photo.
C&C Welcome.
Annette

Very cool trees, Annette! It looks as though they are leaning in to listen to some gossip or possibly getting ready to dance. I like your idea to limit the colors - maybe that will put more focus on the shapes of the trees and not just their colors.

Re: new "glowing trees in the series" - WIP
Thank you all for the nice comments!
I've done further work on it. I darkened the floor and will now start to work on the grass all over. I like how the orange tree stands out now that the others are similar tones of blue.
Thanks for watching.

Re: new "glowing trees in the series" - WIP
Thank you, Ceci, Cravia and Donna T.
I forgot to mention the size of this baby, it's 26x39 inches. It's large! So those colors really bright up the studio as you can imagine.
I'm donating this when it's done for a Kiwanis charity event. I'm a Kiwanian so i'm thrilled that something i love to do can actually help my club to help children in need...what a blessing...

It's impossible for me not to think your tree series refers to people's interactions. Your trees emote through color, but let the viewer to interpret the meaning.
What support are you using for this enormous painting?

Re: new "glowing trees in the series" - WIP
Adriana, the first one i did started as just a colorful tree painting, but then i decided to add other trees in that same picture and before i was done i realized i was thinking of each tree as a separate character. And since then, i think of the composition in terms of people, except these "people" are tree trunks in color... it's so much fun. Your perception is right on!
I used UART sanded paper, grit #500, for this one. It's the largest size they sell.
Thanks,
Annette

Re: new "glowing trees in the series" - WIP
OK, after a while, i finally completed this huge 27x40" painting of my glowing trees. This one i'm donating for a charity event, so it's kind of special to me.
In the original the colors are darker than they appear here in the photo.
Any C&C you can share i will consider for the next one in the series, since this one is already out of my studio.
Thank you for watching.

Excelente, you have to do more of these. You must have spent a lot of pastels in this one, hope you bought a lot at the fair.
