Cool The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

Many of you are very familiar with RandyC's series of 100 limes (all using the very same lime everyday for 100 days) and many of us are sad that Randy's series is complete (though we are happy he made it!). He offered to share photos of the lime on its last day and I asked if we might use those photos in a group project. Randy graciously agreed.

Here are the photos of the infamous lime:

The challenge is to do your own interpretation of the lime (of course done in some type of watermedia), be it serious and realistic or humorous and strange. Multiple entries are fine. Please do post them in this thread rather than in separate threads.

A big thank you to RandyC for sharing his series with us and allowing us the use of his photos.

Let the creativity begin! (Or perhaps I should say continue!)

~!Carey

Re: The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

Thanks Carey - I'd like to participate..... I'm not sure if I should be looking for something on the Wet Canvas Project System Index Page or not. Will it be one of those kinds of projects? I'm unclear how to proceed.

It is an amazing idea to be able to pick up the torch and carry the project forward, and even add our own little lime twist to it. Thank you for suggesting this, and opening up the opportunity. And thanks especially to Randy and his daughter for their generous permission to share in their plan.

Re: The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

I think we'll just keep it simple in this thread as I think that there are still some bugs in the Project System regarding posting images, etc. (well so far as I understand, anyway.) So much like the monthly challenges, there is no sign up or anything of that nature, just paint and post.

Re: The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

Carey, I just noticed that we're in the water media forum, and that you specified water media in your intro. That might be a reason right there to go into the Project System - open it up for everyone.

First thing I was going to do a pencil sketch, and next I'd planned to do a photo interp. Neither of those would work on this thread but it seems like there shouldn't be any media restrictions since Randy tried so many different things (including pencil, Conte, etc.) and his daughter even took it into the sculptural realm with paper clips, etc.!!!

I don't know - it might be too small of a project for the Project System though..... I just thought I'd toss out my concerns and see what you think, since I'm primarily a virtual artist.

I couldn't resist. I guess this would also be lime 101.

Re: The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

OMG!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!! The series is alive

This one looks like something right out of BC maybe - I can't stop smiling

Randy

Okay - I'll cave - I'll go attempt to paint something that includes at least a drop or two of water, but please understand, not only am I new to brands that are non-virtual - I've got an increasingly high fever and the flu so the result may be incredibly atrocious..... But if the spirit of the lime can do it, and if Randy can keep going, I can at least try!!!!!!!

Edit: Cleaned up my bathroom counter ready to paint (that's the only place there's any room to paint at all in my little place) but I'm just too sick - can't stand there even for a few seconds. Thank you for #101 Randy - and I'll contribute to this thread as soon as possible!

Randy! ROFL! Haha, I love it! Thanks for being our first contributor, rather appropriate. I do like this version.

Pine Cone, sorry to hear you are ill! I hope you get better soon. You did mention a pencil sketch....do you happen to have a water soluble graphite pencil? That would totally work for watermedia! (Or even a single color of watercolor pencil.) If you planned your photo interpretation that way somehow, we'd let it count here.

Heee heeeee!! Randy I love it!!!! The flies buzzing around and everything! This is a perfect 101! I'll do my lime eulogy Saturday (only day off).

Pinecone....so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I hope you get better soon and can do your lime drawing/painting. Yeah...like Carey said...even just one watercolor or watersoluble pencil would do!!

Re: The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to see the other's limes. We carved our pumpkin tonight but I couldn't talk the family into carving a lime into it. I knew I should have bought me own pumpkin.

Re: The Eulogy of the Lime (Group Challenge)

I came across the lime series late, but very much enjoyed catching up and watching the lime's progress. Thanks for the entertainment, Randy.

I got to thinking about how the fresh young lime started out all vibrant, green and juicy but ended up sadly brown and shrivelled. For some reason The Picture of Dorian Grey came to mind where a man stays looking young whilst the picture in his attic shows him getting old. So here is my quick tribute, The Picture of Dorian Lime. Watercolour pencils and ink.
