Re: Review: William Wray
It's especially gratifying to be reviewed by and artist of Michael's caliber and insight. This is a bright note after a rough week of Vertigo, a true nightmare for any who have suffered thru the effects. I'm just starting to be able to read and type again with out getting sick and hope to be back to my regular self in a few days. I better as I have contests coming up fast...
Interesting note is a painting I did in the morning before the attack was a precursor of my soon to be swirling mind.

Re: Review: William Wray
Hey everyone,
Glad you enjoyed the article--it was a pleasure for me to put together.
Thanks for the compliment Bill. BTW, I will be in Burbank next week, if you are feeling better, and if it doesn't rain, like last time, maybe we can go out and paint some urban stuff?
Cheers,
Michael

Re: Our Plein Air Shows, Awards, Articles and Events
As a special event for the closing reception of our Annual Plein Air Group show, Kitty Wallis did an alla prima portrait of fellow artist Jack VanNess tonight (November 18) in the theater at the Kingstad Gallery. Kitty began with an underpainting of Createx colors onto a large sheet of Wallis Sanded Paper. She waited for the underpainting to dry and then added pastel over it. The entire process took around 95 minutes. Thanks to Kitty for the demonstration, to the Kingstad Gallery for hosting this event and to the people who showed up to watch Kitty work. The evening was a great success, ending with curator Lora Fisher presenting Kitty Wallis with the "People's Choice" award for her plein air painting: "English Garden".

Wow, Celeste! Congratulations to you on the show, and to Kitty on the award. That portrait Kitty did is also amazing!
That was a very unique way to present a show, having the participation/observation before the opening. How did that go?

Re: Our Plein Air Shows, Awards, Articles and Events
Hi y'all,
Here's my show that's up as Featured Artist for this month. Here's the invitation..
Here's the show. All but a few are Plein Air paintings.
There was a good crowd and I sold a painting!

Ruth, what a beautiful looking show! I recognize some of the paintings as favorites that I've seen here in the forum. Best of luck with the show, and thanks so much for sharing with us!

Re: Workshop in Taos, NM
I've been fortunate enough to be invited to teach a beginning plein air workshop for the Taos Art School this July. Check it out at www.taosartschool.org, click on "Painting", then click on "Beginning Plein Air Painting". Also, I'm very happy to report that Segil Fine Art of Monrovia, CA is now representing me and I will have my first show this spring beginning April 22nd called, "Fresh Color". This gallery also represents the likes of William Wray, Jennifer McChristian, and W. Jason Situ so, I'm in very good company. Thanks to everyone on W/C who has encouraged me. Be well.

Hey Rich many congratulations - but you forgot to mention the Wyoming Plein Air event being held in Cheyenne 31st July to 8th August 2009.
(For information and entry forms please contact thelinkgallery@gmail.com)
I'm sure you can tell everyone how much you enjoyed last year's event, eh Rich! The event had a wonderful write up in SouthWest Art's best of the West for the Rocky Mountains, plus they were one of they main sponsors, as they are again this year.
