Cool

Hi BB1,
Go to top of browser window, click view, then internet options, click advanced tag, then scroll down untill you find Java section and click box to enable, you may have to restart browser for this to take effect,
Hope this fixes your problem,
See you in chat,
Rod,

Hi bb... Well...was hoping that my email would do the trick...but guess not. Some of you files must be missing with your explorer 5. I would contact support for explorer5 at msn and see if downloading a new copy would fix your troubles. Good luck ...and keep in touch via e mail and this message board. We want you in Chat!!!!!

What Rod said is correct. You have to enable the java.
But in IE 5 , what you see under the advanced options window is JAVA VM section, which will allow you to log and enable the JAVA JTE compiler. That’s different issue.

First
Check your security level : is it set to medium? Setting to high will cause problems sometimes.
To check this, click on the tools, internet options
Click on the security tag
Click on the internet icon
Click on the custom level
Under the reset custom settings
Check whether it is medium . reset it to medium
In the same screen, under the settings window, scroll down
Under the heading JAVA, Java permissions
Make sure disable java is not marked. Mark the medium safety
Scroll down further
Under the heading scripting, under scripting of java applets
Mark the enable section
Restart the Explorer.

If you still can’t
I think you have not installed the JAVA VM .
Go to this URL : http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Or here http://www.microsoft.com/java/
Download the JAVA VM , install it and try.

I am sorry if it is confusing. I tried to explain in the best way I can. Hope it helps

Urbanpoet, you did great, I printed it out and am going to try. Thanks for your kindness.
Back at the university we used to make jokes about all the "other" skills painters needed...a degree in carpentry as one made painting frames, and one in u-haul because it takes a genius to move and pack paintings/artwork. Now I guess we need one in computers too!!
Thanks again everybody, if if works I'll fly by the chat room soon.

Hi Blackbird

Can you give me the exact error message that appear on the screen?
You can e-mail to me at: naga47@hotmail.com
Check your hard disk and see whether the following folder exists
C:\windows\java\packages
And list the dir and see whether a 5 MB zip file is there among other zip files.

Check your c:\windows\inf dir and see whether java.inf file is present

Have you checked the security settings?
