Turtle Pond

Hi All, A friend and I painted at a local park this week and the appeal to me was the colors in the different grasses. The photo has a reflection on it...new camera, just learning its functions. Oil. 8x10, raymar panel. All C&C welcome and thanks for looking. Sandy

Re: Turtle Pond

Very nice. I like how you made the sky more interesting than it was in the photo. You chose a section of the photo and painted a good composition.

Re: Turtle Pond

Well painted - but IMHO some stronger contrasts at the waterline will work
(in your photo - the strongest contrasts are the wet parts on the waterline )

Re: Turtle Pond

Sandy, I think you did a wonderful job with the color! You asked for C&C, so I'll add that it just looks unfinished to me. I think those strong foreground elements need better definition. I like Egon's suggestion about the waterline too. If you've got a few strong photos like the one you've shown, I think you can turn this from a good study into a very nice painting!
