This is a practice piece in my quest to paint looser. I'm still messing around with the background but otherwise it's pretty much done.

My challenge also is to paint looser, and I am having a tough time with it. Your painting is very nice, and the looseness is great.

This is nice! VERY nice! I think by adding a few pops of lighter colors where the light would hit his hat, clothing and cheekbones, this would really come to life!

Thanks so much for your comments and suggestions, Army and Dana. I checked out both your sites Amy, your watercolors are fabulous! Dana, your oils are so gorgeous! I keep practicing in the hope that someday my work could reach both your levels.
