are they oranges or balls?? they look like oranges....yum
love these two characters, esp the duck because you portrayed him with minimal detail and that wonderful contrast you're so good at.

gnu,
Thanks for the encouragement!
Alkyd oil is is made from pigment and oil modified alkyd resin.
Its handling properties are in between oil and acrylic. They are thicker & more buttery than acrylics but a bit thinner than regular oils. They have a 4-6 hour working time and dry to the touch in 24 hours.
They are also very nice in glazes where they have greater transparency than traditional oil color which gives increased depth and clarity.
I use Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyds.

Hi Cindy. I love all your toy box paintings. How big are they? How many boxes of old toys did you have to dig through?

Hi Jamie,
Thanks.
Since my kids are still young (ages 7 & 9), all I had to do was hit the playroom - no digging involved!
The paintings range in size from 11"x14" up to 20"x24".

Wow, Cindy, that's much larger than I thought! Are you going to hang them to decorate the playroom?
