Luminous - FINISHED
I am out to prove to myself that the last drawing wasn't a fluke so I have embarked on another adventure. I know this is a popular image.
19.5 X 29 inches with polychromos and again I have no idea what the paper is.
This is only the top left corner.

Re: WIP Luminous
Yes, I really, really enjoy working large. Most of my graphites were large and my paintings were even bigger. Of course it is easier to cover the canvas with larger brushes. My largest painting is 4'X5' and it hangs in the stairwell going up to the second floor of our home.

Re: WIP Luminous
I've discovered the joys of working big, too.
You're off to a marvelous start, Lady Carol! Great job...this'll be another beauty. I'm so glad you're a cp'er now.
How many layers do you use? And do you blend the Polychromos?

Re: WIP Luminous
eerrrrrmmmmmmm!!! Layers. OK. I guess I didn't tell you the colours: cad yellow lemon, orange glaze, pale geranium lake, middle cad red, magenta, indianthrene blue & prussian blue. The number of layers is determined by how hard you press, so I guess 10-12 layers and not particularly sharp pencils. I also use my trusty-dusty blender brush (affectionately called the LCB by several members in my other WIP)

This is like a canvas full of juicy rock! I like your choice of the size--are you going to fill in the negative spaces--I think you can get away with leaving them as they are--I guess you could go with a complementary background--naw--I like as is.

Re: WIP Luminous
Carol, I saw you last drawing and it was excellent. It was long finished before I was aware that it existed, so I have just commented here and now on the quality of that work. I'll just pull up a chair and watch if I may.
I like what I see so far, it appears you made that jump from graphite with total ease. I bothered to look up the base of polychromos and it said oil. So do you varnish these when finished?

Re: WIP Luminous
Hey Oz , thanks for stopping by and lending some moral support. Varnish, erm no, but I use a spray fixative, a workable fixative so I can go back and do things to it at a later date if the shine on one of the grapes starts to irritate

Re: WIP Luminous
Very very clearly, your last one is *not* a fluke, or beginner's luck, or anything of the sort! You've definitely made the leap to color in fine style!
