I'll put myself up next on the list, I'm sure I'll be confident enough to pitch in by Dec next year! As long as my home life doesn't go topsy turvy on me I'd be pleased to lend a hand!

Thanks Sarina, I will keep that in mind in case someone needs to be accomodated. It is wonderful to have enthusiastic beginn ers. I am a relative beginner myself. Work like you have been, observe others, read up on art history, techniques, etc., and accept critiques not as criticisim but alternative suggestions to consider. You have the most important ingredient for success, desire and enthusiasm.

Keep working. It may seem slow at times, but art is never truly mastered. Even the greatest continue to learn.

You may use your own photo refs or those from the RIL. I have copied and quoted the details of what hosting involves. Just let me know if you decide you would like to, ORC.

For those that may be new, to host the challenge simply means that you will start a thread for the appropriate month on the first day of that month. You will Post 2 Reference Images that will be used by participants for that month's challenge.

It is nice if you can post as large an image as possible (within the 800x800 pixel limit) or upload larger versions to the RIL (Reference Image Library) and provide a link to them.

I will send you a PM the beginning of the month prior to your hosting to remind you.

Five days before the first of the month you are hosting, you must send the RI's by Private Message (PM) to Pat Isaac for final approval.

I will then PM you back before the first to let you know the images have been approved .

On the first of the month start a new thread titled:

(Your Month and Year ) Oil Pastel Monthly Challenge

Post a welcome to all wishing participate and post the pics selected for the month.

Generally, but not absolutely necessary, you should try to set an example by posting the results of your work in the thread and make sure all other particpants are encouraged and get some feedback.


This is YOUR forum, and we need you to help make it responsive to the things you want to do with it. So PLEASE consider hosting a monthly challenge or acting as a Standby Host. Simply make a Reply Post to this thread indicating what month and year or that you would like your name added to the Standby Host list and I will add your name to the proper list.

If something happens and you need to reschedule or withdraw as host, simply post the information here. I will keep a running list at the head of each of my replies in this thread indicating currently scheduled hosts followed by the Standby Host list.
