Re: Repair of old mural
Wow, that's a tall order, specially those hours!!
Couple of questions.. did you do the original? I'm mainly curious about what kind of paints were used, if it has held up that well for 12 YEARS in a pool area, WOW. And that brings me to the next question... what did you use for the new part?
You matched everything perfectly, great job as always, Ruth!! Thanks for sharing this!

Re: Repair of old mural
Thank you Michelle and Michele! Sorry I didn't make that clear. Yes, I did the original; this was one of my first big mural jobs. This is the one where the guy asked me, "Are you painting on the wall?" and "Are they paying you to do this?"
I had to use oil-base industrial enamel for the first job, and had to do some minor touch-ups a few years ago. For the new section I used interior satin latex. I expect it to hold up just fine, because I don't want to have to go back in there again!

Re: Repair of old mural
Thanks for the clarifications Ruth! I thought you did the original, it looks like your work...
The same guy asked both those questions? That's definitely a "here's your sign" moment, "no, sir, I'm just pullin the wall away, this is what was underneath..." "nope, I just had some time to kill.."

Re: Repair of old mural
This is one huge job that you did and now redid!!! In the first photo of the new mural, the colors you used for the water are really beautiful. I know that is a small section, but it just really stands out for me. The complimentary colors in the stone enhances the water color. Lots of beautiful stuff in this mural.

Re: Repair of old mural
Awesome job! I especially love the pillar, what a hoot!
Aside from the hours, it looks like it must have fun.
I'll bet the humidity & steam are rough on interior walls, hope this holds up for a good long time! At least they called you back instead of having someone else "step in".
