Question Gold Wire for dots What K and what Gauge?

I'm getting ready to order from Rio and decided to finally indulge myself with a little gold wire. Been wanting to try it out for years now but am a little stingy when it comes to really expensive stuff like gold.
Anyone know if I need 24 karat wire or will 18 K do for making dots? And what gauge? Rio only carries 24 karat in 22 gauge so if I need to order something smaller I'll have to check out some other metal suppliers.
Anyone have any experience with this??

Ha Ha!! What a switch mlou! Thanks for the tip! I've been wanting to get one of those cables for ages! Hope my auctions do well so I can afford the order since I've been adding just one more thing all morning! Akkk!!

Wonder if they have the powdered metals as well? I've been wanting to try them out too.
Now if I could just find out the gauge and karat I need for the gold wire I'll be all set.
Anyone out there have any advice or tips they're willing to share??

Lezlie, I haven't used gold but I immediately thought of Beth Williams.

Here's an article that's on her website. Down in the article, it mentions that she uses 24K.

Please show us your beads with the gold - your beads are always so wonderful!!

Thanks Shirley!
Good thing she uses 24 karat because that's what I ordered!
I got impatient and since my list was growing by the minute I figured I'd better place the order quick or I'd have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it! Hope the gold works. I'm so nervous about wasting it but I figure I pretty much have the silver techniques down so on to new (and expensive) horizons!
