Searching this site :: a better way explained!!

Since the search engine is so terrible for this site (no offense). I thought I would post a better way to search.

Google is a powerful search tool AND it can search specific sites. It's great!

In the google text box you can enter the following to find all posts with unison in them

unison site:http://www.wetcanvas.com/

"basically you put your search term first, then the words 'site:' followed by the site address you want to search. Works great!"

Now this will bring up every post with 'unison' in it. To get what you want you need to refine more. So get more detailed as if you are looking for recommendations for 'red' pastels colours:

unison red site:http://www.wetcanvas.com/

Much more useful info and faster too. Try it, you'll find everything much quicker.

Hope this helps everyone.

Michael

Thanks Michael, I recommend the Google Advanced Search for speed and it also searches three letter words such as WIP, pen, and ink which the wetcanvas search can't do.

I agree Google works well except when you want to search a specific forum.

I wish the search engine was working on the this site. I would also hope the speed was better. I hate browsing through forums and then having to wait and wait for a page that does not load.

Is this issue here bandwidth, processor, storage...etc?

I think it is a bandwidth issue.

You could try adding a link to the specific forum url instead of simply www.wetcanvas.com for example the Watercolor Gallery is http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/foru...ysprune=&f=107

PS I just tried it an it took me to Watermedia instead

Interesting fact is if you use the forum search and the term 'Work in Progress' you pick up quite a high proportion of WIPS! I just tried it in Watercolour Forum!
