Cheap and EASY way to dramatically Frame yer Scratch.

OK folks I do a LOT of very very custom High End Framing but I was looking for a nice and easy way to present my scratch w/o breaking the bank.

The Materials:

Some 1/8th" black foam core board, a $12 Dick Blick DEEP Frame, a $1.98 mat set-up, Double sided tape & foam double sided tape.

My instruction will be for THIS frame holding a 5" x 7" Scratch on Clayboard, make adjustment to suite your own frame and needs.

I cut 4 strips of Foam Board @ 3/4" wide. Cut 2 to 8" & 2 to 9 3/4".

Attach double sided tape to one side of the strips.

Drop in the glass or Plastic(These frames come with plastic)

Attach the foam to the insides of the frame.

CLEAN and set aside.

Next use the double side tape on the Mat and attach it to it backer.

Cut a piece of Foam board to 5" x 3" and apply two pieces of FOAM double sided tape to each side.

Remove the backing and attach the foam to the scratch.

Pull off the remaining backer and attach it to your backer/mat. Take your time here and get it centered correctly or it won't look good and you'll blow the $1.98 mat and a bunch of time fixing the problem. Sorry the flash didn't go off on this but you get the idea. It might actually be better because you can see the extra height this creates a little better.

Make sure your glass is CLEAN and drop in your mat/art combo into the frame.

The frame comes with a hardboard backer with a lip to side into the stock set up. This needs to be removed & can be done quite easily with a ruler and a knife. I have two large cutting boards and I used one of those.

The stock clips should also be removed. grab the tabs with a Needle Nose Pliers and roll to Pliers up and over the attachment point and they pull off easily.

Once that's done drop it on top and using Glazers points you can close this project up.

You can then add a hanging strip that comes with the frame and dust tape the gap.

One REAL bonus is this thing will stand on it's own so showing them off on a table they look real nice.

The art is floating and casts a nice dramatic shadow to lure in the prospective buyer.

Hope you folks can use this little tip, I mean come on framing like this for 15.00 BUCKS! How can ya go wrong!

Thanks for doing all that. I'll add this to the 'helpful tricks and techniques' sticky thread so everyone gets to see it
