New Copper foil bead
People have been asking me about copper foil....
It took a while playing around with it to finally get the wonderful color everyone's been talking about... all I was getting is an ugly grey. but then the miracle happened when I tried it over a coating of enamels...white, ivory, or any light color, and voila'!
Here's an example.... the only colors on this bead before the copper was applied were rose with a coating of white enamel.
All that beautiful turquoise is a result of the copper.
The ivory stringer was applied after I rolled on the copper leaf and melted it in.

Beth,
I humbly apologize for the lack of dark chocolate in that last batch
I ate it all.

Jennifer - wonderful, as always! I just love the organic look. I think I'm gonna try etching today (which I've seen on many of your beads, but not this one -it's perfect as it!) Never tried it because of the chemicals, but I really like the look. I think I'll toss in some of my fuglies (which have nice shape, but nasty design...) and see what happens. Can't hurt!

Valorie - well, I'm familiar with the terms "form" and "balance", but that term "restraint" - I don't recall ever hearing that term...is that English???

wow jen! that is amazing! i've been staring at rene robert's 'obsession' bead and trying to figure out how she does it. one of the 'ingredients' for her bead is copper foil... and then there's the iron oxide...
boy, i can't wait to try the copper foil out.
thank you so much for sharing this with us- that was very generous. i really love this bead...

I love that bead. I have your seller name saved under my favorites, your beads are awesome. My enamels never look like yours, just havent quite figured them out yet. I guess if I would get off the computer and start making beads tonight!!

Great bead, Jennifer! I always love your work!
So where can you get copper foil? I don't remember seeing it in the Frantz or Arrow Springs catalog...
One other question, what etching solution do you use? I wanted to try Jack Frost, but can't find any. Wondering about alternatives to the crap I got at Michael's...

Ok, I'm off to get some copper. Maybe I'll find some at Embellishments next week. Jennifer, did you use a regular flame or a reduction/oxygenating flame?
