Mikael, for a third pastel this quite nice. I love the colors that you have used in the foliage.

Beautiful piece and a great rendering for only your third pastel landscape. Your color selections are especially good. Thanks for sharing.

Re: View from the hill

Hej Mikael,

This is very good for a third pastel landscape! I'm thinking this is from your hometown? The bay area?

You caught the blueness and clarity of the landscape very well. Especially the sky, with those wisps of clouds. And the cool blues in the shadowed parts of the trees. The aerial perspective in the background is fine too. There is an ambiguity in the midground, though. And the nice warm colours in the foreground really brings it close to the viewer. A very good job!

Re: View from the hill

Fantastic for your third pastel landscape. Beautiful composition and I love the purple in the front and the golden land, which wonderfully complement each other. I'd add some more warm colors to the trees to bring them forward. Is that a finger of land at the waterline? If so, I'd dull it in intensity for depth/aerial perspective. Also, what is in between the trees - land/hill? Should it be receding into the background more or is it right next to the trees? I'd follow the "rule" that colors are cooler, less intense and lighter in value as they recede. Well, that's not exactly right about value. It's rather, that lights are darker and darks are lighter.
